Existing anti-obesity drugs may be effective against flu, hepatitis and HIV.

So if I'm understanding the article correctly...fatties taking them are being protected (somewhat) from these diseases, right?

Suck it, fatties

You didn't think this through, did you subby?

If they took them they wouldn't be fatties. I think the trollmitter is talking about habitual fatties.

Extensive clinical testing would be needed to draw conclusions about the safety of TOFA and C75, or similar compounds, as antiviral treatment.

Um, so are we treating viral infection as a contraindication for using these drugs for weight control?

Something fishy here. Anti obesity drugs would be long term use.

And the same drugs considered possibly unsafe for short term antiviral use?

That's what I thought. The fatties on these drugs can "suck it" all they want without worry of std's.

Yay for fighting viruses! With cold sores every few months, I long for the day when I can fully suppress or get rid of them alogether. Nothing like an open sore on your face for weeks at a time :(

Note that these are only "existing anti-obesity drugs" for mice. No products approved for human use block fatty acid synthesis.

In all fairness, being fat in and of itself also protects against these diseases as well as several others. Especially, the sexually transmitted kinds.

Isn't the hiv a cure for the fat?

Wait... there are actual anti-obesity drugs that work? I thought they were all marketing scams where the small print says "may help you lose weight in conjunction with a low calorie diet and exercise", which is what would help you lose weight in the first place.

Oh I see... existing drugs they wont let us have yet...

Who cares if it still in mice stage, at the very least this looks like a good area to switch a bunch of manpower to.

3!! diseases, and while only the latter 2 are the MOST important (depending in the TYPE of flue of course general stuff meh, but 1918 type?)
