Police do not anticipate any charges.

Anticipate any charges? They should throw the guy a banquet.

That guy's earned uber Father's Day presents for the remainder of his existance.

Yeah but in some cities it's illegal to defend yourself or your family. See Washington DC, Chicago, etc.

As the father of a daughter, I'd like to find out that guy's name so I can send him a gift card for his favorite restaurant.

Police do not anticipate any arrests.

I'm shocked. Pleased, but shocked. And for those wanting to send rewards, a quick zabasearch turns up one Robert McNally in Indianapolis. His birth year matches.

R.A.Danny [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 05:11:22 PM
How did the homeowner know this guy was going to hurt anyone? I'm sure they could have reasoned their way out of this with no one getting hurt. The homeowner overreacted and should be locked up, he is violent.

Yeah, I almost wanted to shoot myself for typing that.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

MY NEW HERO.

Expect the coroner to find he died of asphyxiation brought on by his heart condition.

The exact reason the 'Castle Doctrine' was put into effect.

"Police responding to a call from the city's northwest side about 3:20 a.m. Sunday found 64-year-old Robert McNally on the hallway floor with his arm around the neck of 52-year-old David T. Meyers"

So he didn't just shoot the guy or bludgeon him with some heavy household object; he actually locked the man in a rear naked choke and squeezed the effing life out of him. That is the most personal, visceral, you-will-not-stand-any-chance-of-living-through-this means of killing someone that I can imagine.

Somebody send this man a blue ribbon.

Never bring a rape kit to a death match.

Props to the old man for standing up and fighting back. And for choking the no good life out of him.

GWShenlong05 [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 05:22:20 PM
The more I think about this, the more gut-wrenching it gets. People don't just keel over and die while being choked, even if they're simultaneously having a heart attack. There is kicking and struggling and rolling around and biting involved. And the fact that the police found him on the hallway floor, still choking a corpse.

I'm starting to feel pretty bad for the father.

That had to be terrifying for the dad. I imagine the cops probably had to physically remove his arms from around the guys neck. Dad was probably too scared to even let up his grip much less release the guy.

I imagine it was quite traumatic for both the father and the daughter. Then again, that's definitely one situation where I could take another person's life and feel no remorse whatsoever.

BoneStorm 2008-09-28 05:27:43 PM
He said his daughter went to church Sunday after the incident.

Um. Ok. That's an essential detail right there.

Other than that- good on ya, pap!

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 05:28:42 PM
If he had a mask and gloves on then he wasn't naked, was he? And it was thoughtful to bring condoms.

elysive 2008-09-28 05:31:56 PM
The father was 64 years old and the naked guy in his 50's. The article says there was a struggle and the guy had a knife. I'm sure that the father was terrified. Not everyone is trained to let go when the person is passed out and you don't know how you will perform in an emergency. At least the family is okay.

BGates [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 05:34:23 PM

I don't think any boyfriend/future husband is ever gonna be able to top Daddy in that little girls eye.

I'd have been found kicking and beating and stabbing the shiat out of his corpse, but that's just me.

Darth Invictus [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 05:54:28 PM
I was surprised to read that there was no gunfire involved.

At least the family doesn't have to deal with a bloody mess all over the place.

casual_sex 2008-09-28 05:59:44 PM
"Nobody wins," McNally told The Indianapolis Star. "Its a lose-lose situation for everybody. He has family also."

That's an interesting thing for the father to say. Sounds like he needs Internet Toughguy Lessons. He walks the walk but doesn't talk the talk.

dustman81 [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 06:08:32 PM
To the father:

www.graphicaddiction.com

From TFA: "If a person breaks into your home, you are justified in using deadly force in defending your family," said Mount.

THIS.

I only hope this pervert suffered a slow, excruciating death. Quick and painless is too good for him.

Fk the philosophical debate...good for dad and daughter, and good for sick-fk rapist. Buh-bye!

DAUGHTER: "So, you wanna...y'know?"

When a father kills the previously-convicted sexual predator attempted rapist of his daughter, yeah -- the Hero tag fits.

When he kills him with his bare farking hands doubly so.

Your profile says you're a 911 operator/police dispatch. You said it's illegal to defend yourself and your family in chicago, d.c., which is farking insane. I can't believe insane people are allowed to do your high stress job. The fact that you answer "lolwut" as though you couldn't put that logic together makes me even more scared for people under your watch.

Based upon the guy he tried to prosecute in Chicago who killed an intruder. I can't remember all the facts off the top of my head. I'll have to find it on the tubes.
