WOW.

How stupid do you think people are McCain?

McCain and Palin sure seem big on telling us what "most Americans" think, these days.

The stupid thing is, I doubt anyone really thinks this isn't his position. He may not want to talk about it, but he would do the same thing Obama wants to do and Bush is doing. His whargharbl the other night was just an attempt to portray Obama as naive.

McCain emphasized Sunday, Palin "shares" his view on the matter.

Self-righteous, belligerent, and ignorant is no way to go through a campaign, Sarah. Wait until you're elected, first.

kmmontandon: McCain and Palin sure seem big on telling us what "most Americans" think, these days.

I've seen this work very well for the Liberal Bashing Industry, which, during its early years, labeled its views "mainstream."

It was very interesting, because it created an illusion in its fan base that Liberals controlled everything, including the message, and at the same time were a tiny, weak minority. Eco covers this quite well in his essay _Ur-Fascism_:

"The followers must feel humiliated by the ostentatious wealth and force of their
enemies. When I was a boy I was taught to think of Englishmen as the five-meal people.
They ate more frequently than the poor but sober Italians. Jews are rich and help each
other through a secret web of mutual assistance. However, the followers must be
convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of
rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak. Fascist
governments are condemned to lose wars because they are constitutionally incapable of
objectively evaluating the force of the enemy."

"She would not...she understands and has stated repeatedly that we're not going to do anything except in America's national security interest," McCain told ABC's George Stephanopoulos of Palin. "In all due respect, people going around and... sticking a microphone while conversations are being held, and then all of a sudden that's-that's a person's position... This is a free country, but I don't think most Americans think that that's a definitve policy statement made by Governor Palin."

Yeah, that's it. When she's answering a graduate student's question in an informal setting, she doesn't really mean anything she says. In fact, she just likes to say anything that contradicts John McCain's position for shiats and giggles, because, you know, it's not serious talk or anything.

If you watch the video, it confirms that Obama only draws large crowds because of the Decemberists. One lady that wanted a pic with Palin had a Decemberist t-shirt on, which proves Decemberist fans are conservatives and only show up at Obama events for the music.

Sen. John McCain retracted Sarah Palin's stance on Pakistan Sunday morning, after the Alaska governor appeared to back Sen. Barack Obama's support for unilateral strikes inside Pakistan against terrorists

y'know, I always thought that the first rule of picking a running mate was to make sure that the person would 'do no harm' to your overall campaign. I guess that's 'old skool' thinking.

I hear ya, ya know? Sometimes you just hafta go with your gut. Thinkin' about things too much and the like can make ya unsure about what ya gotta do, ya know? And I'm prayin' and lookin' at the plans and I'm confident we'll see the right thing and be ahead.

I think we should invade Pakistan, slaughter their warriors, and burn their villages to the ground. That's why my candidate for president is Hundgar the Barbarian. Hundgar the Barbarian can rip the head off a wolf with his bare hands while drinking it's blood. Can Govenor Palin, a puny female, make this claim? NO.

Hundgar the Barbarian: Ready to rip heads off of wolves on day one.

3. "Fat Jap"
4. Have we met before?

+10 points if you can name all four.

What's funny about this he's accused Obama of saying such things. Obama had to clarified that it would be done as a last resort if Pakistan wasn't going to act.

Now that his own running mate said the same thing, he's using Obama's excuse. Why does it seem that McCain campaign always following Obama's lead?

After the horrible two weeks he had, he still has people unquestioningly supporting him. He depends on their stupidity for votes.

I think Palin needs to sit McCain down at a table and lay it on the line for him.

McCain modifies his positions to match Palin's

Else, she pulls herself off the ticket.

Whether McCain realizes it or not, Palin's got all the power. Without her McCain is lucky to pull in 45% of the vote on Election Day.

He needs Palin.

Don't tell me what I think, Senator. Especially when your running mate farking said the opposite of what you wish she had said.

This is the kind of shiat I'm talking about when I say that Obama treats people like adults and McCain doesn't.

He needed an intelligent Palin, not the ditz that's tied around his neck.

Palin is costing him any independents that were initially swayed by Palin's appearance on the ticket and the Goldwater Republicans who actually believe in the party. He's losing ground with her on the ticket.

palexc: He's gotta dump this broad if he wants to have any shot at all.

He's not going to. It would be like putting up a billboard saying, "I'm John McCain and I make rash decisions without thinking them through!"

Of course, these past few weeks have effectively done that anyways.

shower_in_my_socks [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 05:31:14 PM
Palin was questioned by a Temple graduate student about whether the U.S. should cross the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan.

"If that's what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should," Palin said.

The very next question from the media should be "Senator McCain, what DID Palin mean by that statement, then?"

BTW, I love it that McCain is getting his ass kicked in the polls, and instead of finding a way to fight his way back up, he's stuck covering for Plain YET AGAIN. Explaining away dumbass things that Palin says has become a fulltime job for the McCain campaign -- they have to deal with something new every day. Last week he had to run off to DC just to get away from it. It is absolutely poetic justice for McCain picking a cynical gimmick as a runningmate.

No. She is in the dumpster in favorability. McCain OTOH is not far behind Obama and Biden. She will get some fundies and hardcore antiabortionists to the polls, for sure, but she repulses far more independents apparently.

Good. The last thing we need is another 4 years where an idiot of a person is further degrading America and its values. Palin is a ditz.

I don't disagree. Unfortunately he needed a way to pull in social conservatives and (I guess) this was the best way.

Now if she were to leave the ticket the evangelical vote disappears (POOF, just like Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects).

If she'd never been on the ticket in the first place it'd be drastically different race.

Isn't this sorta like what happened last week with Biden? That the VP candidate said something that didn't coalesce with what the Presidential candidate said? If it wasn't a big deal then, then it isn't a big deal now (IMO).

see here's where he really thinks you're stupid. he believes in unilateral strikes as Obama spoke of too. what he does is when it's exposed as a stupid position on his part he spins it to "well you don't talk about it" "you don't tell them what you're going to do"
as if Obama were going to give them a time and coordinates for the targets by reserving that right.

The old man thinks you're ignorant and will buy any line of shiat he throws out there.

and when George say "well by that logic she messed up then right?"

and again McCain is trapped by his own circular logic.

*sigh*
