How much does 911 cost to call in comparison to, say, 411 or 0?

Granted, those aren't going to be of any help either, but at least it won't tie up emergency services.

When are the authorities going to start prosecuting (or at least fining) these dumb asses?

Each of those stupid farks should spend 30 days in jail.

Atlantans, every time you sit in line at the gas station, ask yourself why in God's name you're going to re-elect the political party for the last 8 has called all the shots and led us to where we are now.

Control_this [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 04:33:57 PM
I live in Atlanta and I thank God we have an oil man for Prez, Vice Prez, and Secretary of State. Just imagine how bad things would be if we didn't!

And just think how bad the Wall Street mess would be if we didn't have a Harvard MBA as prez!

Control_this [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 04:37:08 PM
And yes, we don't say "where is the gas?", we say "where is the gas at?"

People would make fun of us if we sounded too smart.

Control_this [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 04:43:36 PM
another thing, about calling 911:

In Atlanta, most of the tiny suburban cities make you dial 911 if there's a non-emergency and the calls go to county 911. There's no non-emergency number to get a cop to come by.

The 911 operators spend half their time sorting out jurisdictions and service contracts, not handling emergencies.

I'm not surprised. It's is a clusterfark down here. I waited an hour and a half at the one gas station near me with gas on Friday. The problem isn't waiting for gas for me or even paying $5.00 a gallon for it. My problem is most of these gas stations have no farking traffic control. People were honking and losing control at the gas station near me that I at before an attendant came out to control traffic. Thankfully, a Kroger station in Peachtree City yesterday had order for the crowd control. We got in and out in 20 minutes, if even that long. Later in the night, the BF and I found a station with gas and no wait! He filled the tank up.

I asked my dad how did he survive in 1973. It's is ridiculous.

By the spelling and grammar in the headline, I'd guess the gas be between subby's ears.

I haven't been paying attention to the news, why is there such a problem in atlanta in regards to gas?

Yeah, pretty much. I get up at 3 just to get gas now. That way my wait is only 10 minutes.

Well, you called it. In God's name they will re-elect, or more specifically Jesus. Their vote has little to do with issues and everything to do with values. At least while they sit in gas lines they can pray to dashboard Jesus.

eff ewe 2008-09-28 06:43:40 PM
I called 911 a few weeks ago (no, not to find out where the gas was) and was put on hold. That was a very strange feeling... trying to get emergency services to a just-happened car wreck, and being put on hold.

Kenny B [TotalFark] 2008-09-28 06:43:45 PM
I live outside Atlanta. There is plenty of gas around here.
Just go out after dark & bring your Georgia Credit Card.

What does the picture in the article have anything to do with the story? "What a dispatcher's desk may look like"? They could have at least used a stock photo of a gas station.

Got mine at Costco in Buford this morning. As of 6 hours ago when I was out, QT on Buford Dr @ Ssatellite has gas but lines 10+ deep. Texaco next to Kroger on Buford Hwy in Buford had gas for $4.19.

And my folks paid $3.36 yesterday in a Boston 'burb. Fark 'em.

What's to stop people from going out of town and filling up bunch of 5-gallon cans and then delivering them to these gas-strapped people for a substantial delivery fee? Because just 45 minutes up the road in any direction, there's plenty of gas. What an opportunity.

It feels like a third world country in Atlanta right now. It is the wierd scenario that when supply goes down, demand actually goes up. People are filling up their tanks when it is half full.

60+ Miles to the Gallon on my like Retro 150 scooter.
I ride it to work on nice days, and take the car on rainy days. The Scooter only has a 1.2 Gallon tank, and work is only 5 miles away so Im saving a fortune right now. Best 400$ I ever spent. The savings in gas have already paid for the scooter.

Im in the process of working on a Home Alcohol Still and converting my car to run on a 85+% alcholo gas mix. Best part is, I dont even have to do mods to the car till I use a more then 50% Ratio of Gas to Alcohol.

Check out Dave Blumes book "Alcohol can be a Gas"

A rear end collision and a fiery death?

I would think there's some sort of license required or regulations involved to sell gasoline, but I dunno.
