"I was a little disappointed the media called it a tie but I think that means, when they call it a tie, that means we win," McCain said during a telephone call that was caught by cameras filming him at his campaign headquarters.

i like that mentality. i'm gonna start using that. next time i play poker, and i split a pot with someone, i'll just inform them that when they call it a tie, that means i win.

Denial - it's not just a river in Egypt. If you tie your opponent on the topic that is your strong suit, how in the fark can you claim victory for yourself?

No, if it's a tie, it means that no one wins and no one loses.

I guess it just shows how much he's disconnected from reality. I wonder if thinks if he complains loud enough everyone will just agree with him.

After clearing the drool from the corner of his mouth McCain went on to say "Durrr, I like pie."

someone needs to tell Gallup. they say Obama won the debate by 12 points and will have a new 3 day tracking out today that shows Obama up 51-43

time for another cunning stunt John. Voting no on the bailout sounds like the Maverick thing to do. You didn't draw all this attention to yourself just to eat your share of the shiat pie your buddies Gramm and Bush whipped up. No you're going to walk away from it and disown it even though your DNA is all in it.

Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs.

Yes, John. The press is calling the debate on foreign policy a tie. You are behind in the polls and you were unable to clearly defeat an "inexperienced" candidate that "just doesn't understand" foreign policy.

This was the debate that you were supposed to show everybody that you were the only one that could possibly be Presidential as it regards to foreign policy.

If it is declared a tie by pretty much every pundit and an Obama win by a decent percentage of snap polls, that doesn't suddenly mean you won because you said so.

JohnnyC 2008-09-28 12:40:02 PM
neglogon: He must believe his own press

That is exactly the problem. He not only believes his own press, he believes his own rhetoric. Although, admittedly, I use the term "his own" very loosely here considering how many things are decided by his lobbyist managers and fed to him.

You rabid libruls just don't get it. When McCain was a POW they tied him up. Then he came home and ran for political office and won because of his war record. If he hadn't been tied up in the first place he wouldn't have won. Tie = Win!

This surprises me a lot. Gallup is the pollster who is proud to say he gives Republicans the numbers they need.

I don't agree with Obama's policy decisions, but I think he kicked McCain's ass on that debate. Old johnny boy wasn't looking up to the whole thing. It wasn't anything I could put my finger on either, but something just seemed off with McCain.

It was a wash if you listened to it. It was all a bunch of talking points. OTOH if you watched it it was pretty clear who won. I think the point of these debates has much less to do with words and has everything to do with body language.

We'd like to think we have progressed past primate politics but it's not true. Obama didn't break a sweat. McCain OTOH....

I just think both are missing the point. Each of them have very bad ideas on various things, each with their own extreme ideas on how to govern. McCain is too far right (just for the extreme GOP, he really is more Democrat than Republican) and Obama is way too far left. I keep telling everyone I can't stand "Factions", just like our 1st President.

I said this when the debate was on:

Ever end up somewhere you really do not want to be, after trying everything you could to get out of going? Some, or all, of the people will be able to pick up on that -- he seemed annoyed, tired, and it was clear he did not want to be there.

That, and he couldn't hide the fact that he hates Obama so much he can't even look at the man. It was a combination of hating the person he had to speak to/with, and being somewhere he absolutely did not want to be.

I think this is part of what makes him wildly unqualified for President -- he can't mask his emotions/body language at all.

That was another thing that struck me - McCain's utter contempt for the whole process. First he plays games with 'suspending his campaign' and then implies he won't show up to the debate....and when he DOES go he acts extremely childish. Or at least not like a presidential candidate should anyway. He just seemed very unprofessional.

Obama, on the other hand, seemed VERY professional. He brought his 'A' game, didn't dick around and seemed cool and collected. Even if I didn't agree with his answers, I could respect that he put effort into his debate prep and conducted himself in a very 'presidential' manner.

Do you know why Factions are bad? Because they only serve the Faction, not the whole of America. Is that good enough explanation for you?
