(CBS News) Dumbass Palin contradicts McCain's debate position on Pakistan. Maybe watching the debate with the volume turned down wasn't such a good idea   (cbsnews.com) divider line 183

She is really a sad, sad case. The question is whether or not she is so dumb that she doesn't know how dumb she is. If she isn't quite that dumb, she'll quit.

The issue of cross-boarder attacks and whatnot isn't so important. Its her inability to properly recite talking points and her inability to give BS answers as well as the average politician should be able to (thanks Bill Maher).

You could randomly pick any pundit from Fox News and they'd do 200 times better than her.

I have to give her credit for this. It actually sounded like her opinion, it made sense, and it wasn't just a bunch of random words strung together.

I don't have a problem if the POTUS and the VP do not agree 100% on all issues.

Most normal people don't have a problem with differing opinions, but "conservatives" do... wait, this case would be inconvenient for them, never mind.

Why is she the nominee for VP? She may be a good governor of Alaska (I have no idea) but she clearly lacks knowledge of the issues that affect the rest of the country (99%+ of the population.) If she was chosen just because she's a woman, why not choose Olympia Snowe?

FredaDeStilleto [TotalFark] 2008-09-27 11:55:58 PM
She's out of her league.

Right now, everyone is playing a waiting game: when is she going back to Alaska and what will be the excuse.

McCain needs to save face. The only thing that will work is a family emergency. Like a bear attack on Todd.

More likely: A Bristol "pregnancy emergency." The first dude is a non-story, and will remain so.

I like the hair down/listening device guess. She's got the TV experience to be able to talk on TV with someone talking in her ear.

Still not sure she could pull it off.

They'd be better off just putting a tiny speaker in her mouth and telling her to just move her lips.

Nothing would be better than for her, in a debate, to give a passionate and stirring answer which is the complete opposite of McCain's policy.

That was going to be my first pick but then the rumors about being Bristol being the new baby's mother would resurface. The National Enquirer is there so it would be fortuitous to rub seal blood on Todd and send him into the wild.

I don't know if she is dumb, just out of her league. She was picked from relative obscurity and placed in the middle of a monumental election. She is being coached, prodded and handled like she never has been before. It really is unfortunate for her and her family.

I really blame McCain for doing this to her. He should have realized she is a rookie still learning the game. In 5 to 8 years she would have been much more well-rounded and ready. He should have left her alone for the future of his party. Instead, he decided she was expendable for a few votes. This simple decision shows that McCain is really unfit to be President of the United States. He didn't put the country first and not even his own party, but his own aspirations.

LOL. The name "Trig" is especially hilarious to me in respect to Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

She would never, I mean never, have turned down the opportunity to be VP. It is not in her. First, I think she thinks it was preordained by her God. Second, I think she thrives and desires public approval, so turning down the nomination goes against her very being. Finally, she is driven by winning. For her, she has won even if she and McCain lose.

She embodies narcissism.

Maybe the Obama/Biden campaign can make sure there's no listening device before they go on. I think they would love to find one and they could refuse to go on until she was checked without too much negative fallout.

I have a growing suspicion that Palin will try to pull out of the debate somehow, if not out of the race altogether. What I wonder is what the timeframe will be. Bristol in the hospital the day before? Or Bristol in the hospital two hours before, with Joe Lieberman conveniently able to save the day?

Anyway, I've been thinking about her information on Pakistan. I wonder if Zardari set her up to contradict McCain on a talking point.

A few days ago she spent an hour with the leader of Pakistan. Because she has no knowledge of foreign relations at all, she probably took whatever he said at face value unless her aides contradicted it directly. Knowing Palin, she's probably too busy with the 8000 other talking points she needs to memorize to remember McCain's positions, but an hour's listening to Zardari may have sunk in some details. The detail of Pakistan's economic situation - that's probably something she gleaned from that meeting, because I can't see why her aides would be briefing her on Pakistani economics when she hasn't even learned American economics yet.

Does the President of Pakistan actually support U.S. intervention across the Afghan border, or did he give Palin the idea that he did, and why might he have done so, if he did? Very interesting.

I suspect that in that scenario Biden would just smile and say, "That's cool, we'll reschedule the minute you return to campaigning," and put Palin in a very difficult position. You can cancel a planned rally fairly easily, after all, so it's not like she could say, "Oh, tough luck, my schedule is just packed until... hmmm... November 5th!"

She doesn't even seem too on the ball with that. She can't budget to save her life, and has no idea what her own National Guard even does.

Here's a hint, Sarah. Air National Guards units with names like "168th Refueling Wing" and "210th Rescue Squadron" don't shoot down Russian bombers.

/Not to mention the state seems to be overrun with crystal meth and rapists.
