were you seriously expecting deep political insight from that section of a website?

then again, i am baffled as to why this tripe would be sent to the politics tab instead of the showbiz tab, so there's always that

mccain's tie was ugly, does that count?

seriously, his staff has issues with putting him in unflattering visual situations.

Believe it or not, that was the first thing I noticed. McCain went generic & Obama wore a power tie.

Good point on the source site getting the article placement correct.

Obama wasn't wearing a flag tie. He's obviously a anti-American Socialist secret Muslim.

But he was wearing a flag pin & McCain wasn't. So McCain's a commie? :p

They tried a pin on McCain but the embalming fluid started to leak.

Don't be stupid. He can't be a secret Muslim. He was wearing a red tie, which obviously means that he's a Communist. Have you ever met a Muslim Communist?

I rest my case.

From a video production perspective, you should stay away from stripes and the color red. Stripes cause weird shifting problems with video, which a lot of people noticed last night (McCain's tie looked psychedelic at times). You shouldn't wear stripes unless they're really wide. And red bleeds, although Obama's tie looked OK.

Something tells me when Palin comes out on Thursday night with her red and white striped bikini, nobody will care about the "shifting" problems

I don't have High def, so the lines in McCain's tie was dancing in and out. I noticed it right off.

This isn't a major point, but something like that distracts people away from what he he is trying to say. It was noticable, and you don't want distractions during something as important as a presidential debate.

Actually, I've never seen a tie that looked like that in any presidential debate I've ever seen. (And I've seen a few)

Not the picture from the debate. Obama was wearing a red tie with a flag pin label unlike antiamerican McCain

If by dominate you mean be on the defensive, forget the name of the soldier on his "me too me too" wristband, make easily refutable claims and look like a student debating his professor, then yes.

Yes and that pic is not from the debate. Obama wore a maroon tie.

Sckonkh got the right pic. I honestly didnt pay that much attention...the lapel pin issue is just downright silly. But turns out Obama WAS wearing one. So I will rephrase:

Why does McCain hate America???

Well if the other parties were allowed to be in the debate their neckware would have rocked americas farkin socks off!!

Barr would have had a hemp tie.

Nadar a neon light up tie.

That one crazy biatch would have had a necklace of human ears.

REAL substance!!!! Not the SHAM (wow!) we were SPOON FED last night! You Demopublican sheeples!!!

No, I meant more in the expose the cold war mummy for being a warmongering bag of hot air kind of way. Basicly he proved that McCain's "experience" is like a long time drunken Raider's fans ability to coach them to victory.

I came here to say that I had the exact opposite effect. Obama's tie almost seemed to be flashing.

Then again, I was watching an HD signal converted to NTSC. If you were watching an analog signal or an HD set, I supposALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!

YOU FAIL. I watched the debate three times and it was clear that Obama stumbled when he began to say the dead SOLDIER gave him the wristband. He stopped after saying "Sergeant", said the guy's name CORRECTLY and talked about how the soldier's mother gave it to him. Also mentioned that no US soldier ever dies in vain as McCain had suggested. If you want to pick apart the nuances of the candidates speech this granularly, don't forget to mention McCain's major flubbing of "Ahmadinejad" a couple of times. He ought to be able to say the name of president of the country be so desperately wants to BOMB BOMB BOMB!

ExanimateAzrael 2008-09-28 12:02:39 AM
Hah! If the debate pics are right, McCain's tie looked completely different on my tv than it actually was. It looked like a thin black and white striped hyno-tie.

This has nothing to do with this topic, but, to quote a Freeper post (new window)

"The debate was broadcast on many different stations last night. NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, etc. However, it is widely acknowledged that all of these stations are unapologetically and firmly left-leaning organizations who are, and have been from the beginning, "in the tank" for Obama. Hence, their viewership is similarly inclined. Any poll of the viewers of these "anti-news" organs is going to be artificially skewed and irrelevant.

There is another news agent, however. Its viewership is remarkably balanced; there was a figure publicized just two days ago on its afternoon chat show which informed that its viewers broke down as follows: 36% Republican, 30% Democrat, 30% Independent. This same news organ also happens to enjoy a viewership which, in terms of raw numbers, exceeds all the other lefty cable "news" stations combined.

This is Fox News. And while even I at times bridle at their unnecessary desire to seem "fair and balanced" (there are plenty of Liberal whore stations out there to tell the twisted Dimocrat side, give it a break!), their shortcomings are not the focus of this treatment.

Their viewers are the focus here. It is huge, and it is balanced across the political spectrum.

After the debate concluded, Fox invited its' viewers to vote on who they thought won. They voted McCain 82%, Obama 16%. There is no more authoritative, thorough or meaningful representation of America's opinion of who won, and it really wasn't even close. Really."

Drudge report reflected about this same margin. A lot of other sources had results that were more in line with the national polling average, showing Obama with a 5%-10% advantage coming out of the debate. Results cooked up by right-wing sources like Fox and Drudge speak for themselves.
