WTF? If I saw a BAT IN MY HOUSE I would be overly concerned. Where the fark does she live? And how did it get in her coffee filter?

Wow,

Believe it or not, the same thing happened to my parents when we were renovating our first house. The attic was open to the rest of the house, and there was a bat flying around one night. My father hit it with a broom but couldn't figure out where it landed.

My mother got up in the morning, boiled the kettle and proceeded to make coffee.. For the next 3 days my father commented on how bad the coffee was tasting and did she change brands..

She only emptied the water from the kettle (she kept refilling) on the fourth day and a little bleached bad skeleton fell out.

They went for rabies shots, but were told they weren't necessary due to the water being boiled over and over again.

True story.

I once found a five inch bat cooling out in my sink with some dirty dishes. It was a normal home, not a barn, no other bats ever. From what I understand, bats just squeeze into things.

A helpful family member got it outside, everyone came out rabies free and the bat lived.

Sometimes shiat just happens, are you afraid of bats.

I have heard of Bat Coffee and I can't decide which is worse

Bat Coffee (this product will be added when we have sufficient quantity).
We further guarantee that our Bat Coffee has been eaten by and has passed through the digestive tract of a bat, exact species unknown. Dr Massimo came to the following conclusion; Your bat coffee does look like it went through a GI track of an animal.

Yes, I'm having difficulty visualizing the logistics of this too. My Mr Coffee has a compartment which is closed off once the coffee filter/coffee is put in. Plus, what size was this bat? Bats have a big wing span relative to their body size, and its hard to see how it could get into such a small space, and indeed why it would wish to do so.

/knows a little about this as a bat once entered his house through the pet door, flew around the bedroom at 3am. Good times.

CornFedIowan 2008-09-27 09:24:34 PM

Not so much that I'm scared of bats...but if I saw one in my house, I'd want it out...much like you apparently did (but you needed someone to do it for you) What..were you scared of it?

Actually, little fruit bats are adept at fitting into small spaces. Their wings just wrap around their tiny bodies. I know this because I grew up in an ancient house in the middle of nowhere, and bats would sneak into the house *through cracks in the foundation* all the freaking time. Like, a couple times a month. I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but they do it.

I was about 11 when I came home one night, went into my bedroom, switched my lights on, and saw a bat hanging from my ceiling. Our cats would come up from our basement with little bat wings hanging out of their mouths. Of course, once my parents dropped the $30 for a few cans of Touch 'N Foam and plugged up as many holes as they could find, the suprise visitors decreased in numbers. But I digress.

Bats can fit just about anywhere.

/as an adult, I am really freaked out by bats.
