Matt Blunt and his family are the most corrupt, remorselessly evil politicians we've had in a while.

We're voting you out too, asshole. Soon.

A Sitting Republican governor uses his office and official website to issue a press release in support of his party's candidate. Is this

(a) Newsworthy?
(b) Heroic?
(c) Green-lit?

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2008-09-27 06:05:34 PM
Gee. A republican coming out against Obama. I'm shocked. I really am.

can someone pick me up off the floor?

FTFA:

"Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics."

Anyone have a link to WTF this is about? Too lazy to Google.

A Dark Evil Omen 2008-09-27 06:10:13 PM
Hmm. A sitting governor issuing an indignant press release against a call to enforce ethics laws.

American conservatism at its finest.

Psychotropic 2008-09-27 06:11:39 PM
Republicans obey laws and tell the truth? Unpossible.
Without lies they have nothing to campaign with.

Hender [TotalFark] 2008-09-27 06:25:43 PM
Remove all Republicans: Dude, on one side, you have a Republican and on the other, you have Obama. You know who to trust and who's lying through his teeth.

I presume that the Gov. is blowing something waaaaay out of proportion, but I'm just curious what it is.

I read it three times and I see no substance ... it doesn't say exactly what they are accused of doing.

We have accusations of the Obama campaign possibly doing something vs proof of preemptive police raids and mass arrests against people who were preparing to speak out against republicans in Minnesota.

The article needs more substance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Obama just going after the people making up blatant lies about him. You know, that thing that is illegal for the media to do?

It's not intimidation. It's fighting against untrue smears with the law. Something tells me the Republicans are just a little "butthurt" (a term I first heard from my little cousin last week) because they are not used to a Democrat with a spine.

In all fairness, if you take away GOPs right to lie and smear, what else do they have to go on?

Either way, this is bad for Obama.

How? All he has to do is put out an ad saying that he is stopping the lying and smearing in politics, and holding those trying to mislead us from moving forward accountable.

No, he has used his supporters to try and silence critics in the past. One major example is when his campaign called on its supporters to silence a critic who was investigating Mr Obamas working relationship to Bill Ayrs.

Obama Campaign Tries to Shut Down Chicago Radio Show (new window)

Here is a link to download a recording of that show. (new window) Stanley Kurtz didn't make any wild assed remarks or accusations, but talked reasonably about questioning Obamas past actions that turned out to be dismal failures. Quite an interesting recording. You think the "Obama the Messiah" is sarcasm, I sure thought it was, just wait until you listen to some of the callers. Some of those people need to get a grip.

zooter [TotalFark] 2008-09-27 07:16:45 PM
Crosshair - seriously? You're going to quote from a website called "Stop the ACLU" and expect reasonable people (well, okay, Farkers) to take it seriously?

I'm calling deep brown bullshiat on this whole story. I'm thinking Matt Blunt is behind the whole thing.

I find it ironic that Stop the ACLU is whining about people infringing on their rights.

Bacontastesgood 2008-09-27 07:24:43 PM
This is it. THis will bring down the Obama campaign, their unbridled thuggery and hatred of free speech in Missouri.

Either that, or it's just another whiny ass Republican making up bullshiat and throwing it at the Democrat standard bearer, because their policies are shiat and they have no way to build a majority honestly.

His name is Matt Blunt. He sounds like a frat-boy stoner who sits on his ass eating Cheetos and playing on his Wii all day. Whether he is like that or not, that's the image of the Governor I now have and it's funny. So fark him.

/I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.

I'm glad that this statement was released complete with credible examples of the abuses of the Obama campaign, or I might be inclined to think he was talking out of his ass.

both subby and the Missouri Governor must not remember the GOP convention.

Both parties are at fault here.

Posting a picture of a Nazi doesn't actually make accusations of wrongdoing true, big guy. But it sure didn't take you long to break out that last-ditch wild punch.

Um, had you not gone into a blind rage and read the rest of the post, you would see that I put a link to the website of the radio station where there is a link to download a copy of the show. So don't take my word, check out the recording of what happened.

Hundreds of other websites posted the story. (new window) I just used the first link that came up in the search engine. If your feelings are hurt, feel free to read the story from another website that is more to your liking.

I skimmed it once, and then read it fully, out loud, in an attempt to find something - anything - of substance. I failed to find any. Essentially, it lays out like this:

ExJerseyGirl is absolutely out of control. The things ExJerseyGirl is doing is scandalous and outrageous. How dare ExJerseyGirl and others carry on with such activities and tactics. To continue to do so is criminally irresponsible.

Saying so much, yet somehow saying absolutely nothing.

Actually, if it's what it has been described as in this thread, namely upholding ethics laws by prosecuting people that spread boldfaced lies as news, I would be for that against Democrats as well. Just because you have no standards doesn't mean nobody does.
