I like Blitzer's response: "It was not her best answer".
Sadly, it wasn't her worst either.

I'm speechless... I think this Billy Madison quote is appropriate here:

"Governor Palin, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

And all of the foaming-at-the-mouth Republicanites who were shrieking that Biden would step down and pick Hillary due to his incompetence should eat their own words.

In what respect, Mor-dant?

MisterTweak 2008-09-26 05:17:58 PM
I've got an idea. Let's hold two elections. One will be "National Heroes who exemplify American Values, Morals, and Courage". The winner of this election will have a holiday in their name, a ticker-tape parade in every major city, and their photo in every classroom in the US. They will throw the opening pitch at baseball games, and present awards to citizens recognized for outstanding deeds.

Then we'll have a second ballot for "disliked overworked executive who will be in charge of our treasury, commerce, and national security, who has nothing at all to do with our drinking buddies, isn't like us, doesn't represent our morals, faith, or values, and is just the smartest guy we could find to keep our ass out of the world's frying pan".

I know, crazy idea, but..

I've always liked Jack Cafferty. He reminds me of my dad. But not my kind, gentle and understanding father. He reminds me of my irritated, pissed off and about to lay down the law father. RIP, dear old dad.

Cafferty is always editorial with what he brings to the screen. I agree with him more often than not. In this case, it's pretty easy to give kudos. She's an idiot.

One or two misspeaks I can easily forgive. Lord knows I've used the completely wrong word before myself. This woman seems to do it all the time.

I don't know if that's the media just replaying all her flubs or she's actually farking everything up. I've been really busy and I missed both interviews so far. Was she this bad while running for Governor?

The difference is that Biden is a poor speaker, but he is smart, experienced, and qualified. On the other hand, Palin is not bright, inexperienced, and unqualified as WELL as being a poor speaker.

Well I wasn't actually commenting on Biden I was remarking to the person who seemed to think one politician sounding retarded somehow made another doing a similar thing somehow better.

I've just chalked up most of his screw ups on the fact that the Obama campaign is focusing on all Obama all the time and he's not in the loop as much as he should be. The McCain campaign is trying to push Pain in the spotlight to make up for McCain's age and insiderness.

I've seen Biden in all the Democratic debates he didn't seem like a moron then. I've been hearing from him for a long time so I have an idea where he's coming from. Palin's been in the spotlight for all of 45 seconds so I think it's understandable not to have a good read on her.

The McCain camp is hoping that all the negative press Palin has thus far received will backfire and people will actually become sympathetic towards her.

I just don't see that happening. Frankly, her inclusion into the election may bring about some reform;like the creation of Official State Jester.

And, the obvious thing to do in this situation is to hide her from the press and only give limited interviews for a month while trying to get the press to follow her around and give her free publicity without actual substance.

No, those are the *good* parts. The media seems to be tripping over itself so as to not be accused of intentionally making her look bad. The transcripts are out there. Read some of them. I have yet to find a single, coherent sentence in response to a question. Even when she reverts to spouting a talking point (regardless of its relevance to the question at hand) she rarely completes a sentence before bouncing off to another disjointed thoughtlet. And nobody in any legitimate news organization seems to have the balls to say "are you farking kidding me?"

I've been toying with the idea that McCain intentionally picked an unsuitable running mate to get one he really wants, like Romney or even, God help us, Joseph Lieberman. That is, Palin drops out, tearfully ripping the liberal media and its "sleaze", saying that she can't put her family through this anymore, and the sympathy she gets from the Jeebus Voters outweighs their distaste at a candidate that doesn't really care about their precious "social issues" as much as they'd like.

But that would rely on the McCain campaign having a really strategic mind, and I'm not seeing that. At all.
