So do polls matter today or don't they? I'm always confused until one side or the other comes in and tells me.

So far, the democrats are doing a great job of covering up the massive fail of Obama at the White House meeting yesterday. Apparently he was ill-prepared, and if you heard his comments last night, he basically admits he screwed it all up.

MacG [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 02:17:19 PM
and doesn't rasmussen have McCain up? Not that I really care, both McCain and Obama are nightmares.

Rasmussen has Obama leading 50-45% in their tracker today.

king_nacho: Wasn't kerry up in Virginia?

No. I don't recall that at any point in the run-up to '04.

Today's Rasmussen tracking poll has Obama up five nationally. Same numbers as Virginia in fact: 50-45.

That's a seven-point swing for Obama in Virginia--in one week--along with a five-point swing in Colorado (where he's up three). If those numbers hold, Ohio and Florida become irrelevant. Obama could lose New Mexico, New Hampshire, and Iowa as well and still win the election.

Of course, Reagan was up in Virginia, and he won. Strange that you didn't cherry-pick THAT data point.

Was he?

I'm just running thru the 2004 polls and can't find anything except "bush +2" and "bush +6" and "bush + [fill in the number]" in the six weeks leading up to the 2004 election.

Or are you just re-hashing stupid shiat from right-wing talk radio?

Like it matters. Who gives a shiat? Unless you're on the campaign team, fussing over polls is a way to waste time.

I just don't like blatant lies going unchallenged in threads. Very shocking, I know.

Oh, all right. It's Friday, so I wasn't getting any work done anyway.

From September 30, 2004:

Bush led Kerry, 49 percent to 43 percent, in a survey of 625 registered Virginia voters conducted Friday through Monday by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. All participants in the poll said they plan to vote in the presidential election.

Yanks_RSJ: So do polls matter today or don't they? I'm always confused until one side or the other comes in and tells me.

I would say that polls begin to matter after the debate. I will pay attention to a poll taken saturday or sunday, of likely voters who watched the debate and who were undecided before.

Kerry was never ahead of Bush in Virginia in any public poll.
