Little early maybe?

Pernicus: Little early maybe?

Yeah, but at least there isn't a debate thread on the main page yet.

As for me, there isn't enough alcohol in the world to get me through this debate.

I don't really know if I should watch this. I like my tv, and breaking it is not in my best interests.

oldfarthenry [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 01:03:57 PM
Too late - McCain already won.

burndtdan 2008-09-26 01:06:30 PM
i know the mods sometimes take a while to approve things, but 8 hours is a little extreme.

JerseyTim [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 01:06:49 PM
They really should score these things Around the Horn style.

Koggie [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 01:07:57 PM
This could be bad news... for America.

SushiJoe [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 01:08:28 PM
McCain already won, he said so

darkhorse23 [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 01:12:26 PM
I'd stay here and yak yak about this (and I wish I could) but I'm going out to register voters again today.

If you haven't registered, go HERE and click on the link. Yeah, I threw out the html on the webpage in about 5 minutes and yes it looks stupid but it gets the point across.

Chindit [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 01:13:48 PM
Does this mean we can begin the drinking? Its 1313est. Jussssttttt a little one.

What, you mean you haven't already?

0500 was a long time ago.

Obama will fail because he has to rely on notes and not a teleprompter.

Sure, just like all the debates he "lost" to Hillary. How'd that turn out, again?

So, I totally chipped a back molar today... and I'm gonna be in severe pain throughout the debates tonight.

But not as much pain as I was in while watching the Palin/Katie Couric interview

HIGH-OOoooo

CravenMorehead 2008-09-26 01:40:21 PM
I'm recording it on my DVR and will start watching about 30 minutes into it. That way I can fast-forward when McCain looks so helpless that I feel embarrassed for him.

Actually, I think I'll start watching 90 minutes into it. This could be pretty bad.

stargazer101 2008-09-26 01:50:29 PM
Sadly, I won't be able to join the discussion tonight. I'll be up in the Poconos and while my friend does have cable tv, there's no internet. Some point about getting away from it all, or something. So I will be with you in spirit, laughing and imagining the snark released upon every gaffe!

Pffffft...Hillary's a woman. McCain is a POW!

Fun fact: if you play McCain's statements backwards it actually sounds like he's telling the truth.

lexshine [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 02:15:40 PM
So will they rig the old man up with some sort of device blasting pointers into his ears in case he starts to catch some ownage?

lexshine: So will they rig the old man up with some sort of device blasting pointers into his ears in case he starts to catch some ownage?

He'll start shooting bees out of his mouth. Killer, Africanized bees.

We're going to be on the third debate thread before the debate starts.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 02:23:48 PM
I think I'm going to have a stick to a TF-only thread when the debate starts. The liter threads will be totally overwhelmed.

Pernicus: Little early maybe?

Why the hell not?

After all, we've been having to put up with this election for almost two years now...

I love that Pre-Election spirit!

More likely.

GAT_00 [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 02:28:17 PM
Why do we have this thread? McCain's already got ads out saying he won, we clearly don't even need to bother watching the debate.

Jamespoon [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 02:31:43 PM
I Said: We're going to be on the third debate thread before the debate starts.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the sort of defeatist attitude that we cannot afford to have in the White House. What if someone called at 3am and this was said?

So whats the drinking game? I gotta cash of 2 buck chuck in my room, as well as a bottle of cheap single barrel. BRING IT ON!!

seventypercent [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 02:48:03 PM
You can tell that Lehrer writes his own questions, though he needs a new toupee. It's also pretty clear that McCain is suffering from a lack of preparation -- he really bumbled his way through that last question. Having said that, Obama has made some stumbles as well -- WTF is a "Wall Street powerbraker"?

I can't believe they had to cut to commercial because of McCains incontinence

keiverarrow [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 03:00:02 PM
the part where McCain fell asleep mid answer and then woke up shouting for his meds was hilarious

Howie Spankowitz [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 03:02:34 PM
I thought it was cute and priceless when Sarah Palin came on stage and changed McCain's diaper as he was defending his position on the conflict in Georgia. I'm a parent and I can relate. They won my vote at that moment.

I just noticed something. Look carefully at McCain's eyes in that picture.

They're pointing in opposite directions.

Either he's a chameleon, or McCain 2000 is feebly trying to reassert control over McCain 2008.

HulkHands [TotalFark] 2008-09-26 03:08:42 PM
Kiefer Sutherland killing the sniper that was aiming at Obama was rather interesting.

So do we all start posting our Obama fundraising thermometers now, or when it hits the main page?

As an Ole Miss alum, I'm going to enjoy this just that much more this evening. I was there during the 40th anniversary of the first black student registering for classes, and being younger than that and from the north, I really had no idea how violent those times were. Well, I had learned about it, but being down there and seeing the riot footage over and over for a week is different. So this is pretty cool for them to host the first debate with a black presidential candidate.

Although I'd vote for Obama if he were purple with orange spots.

EL_FABREZ 2008-09-26 03:19:41 PM
I bet this thread will be diverted before the debate even starts.

I am voting early (probably next week) and it won't be for McCain, Obama or any of the other independant parties.

ALREADY???

What the f*ck, guys?

I'm going to have to catch up on 6 hours of goddamn flamewars by the time the debate starts? Thanks, thanks a lot.

Just turn on network TV and start the drinking games early.

My vote is to watch The Waterboy and drink on "my friends." We can continue when the debate starts.

A one-act play

Drew (to Wil): Hey, one of my admins just greenlit a debate thread at 3:15 in the afternoon. I won't go in if you won't.
Wil: Okay, I'm in for this joint statement.
Wil Wheaton: I am suspending my participation in flame wars and I have asked Drew to join me.
Drew Curtis: WTF

Every time tonight I hear John McCain mention his "heroic" service as a plane-crashing prisoner, I'm donating to Obama.

/more fun than a drinking game, however expensive

Calvin Coolidge 2008-09-26 03:23:51 PM
Something tells me they're going to red light this thread shortly, then bring it back about an hour after the debate starts.
