Actually the Sun-Times has traditionally been Democratic-leaning. I'm not sure about the new ownership, that's so much of a soap opera by itself that I can't keep up. But it should be noted that the Tribune (which *is* right-leaning) spent a lot of time looking at the Obama-Rezko deal and didn't find anything wrong with it.

Thats only true if you are a Democrat. You see the GOP can hang out with criminals all the time and they don't get tainted. Even if they really did do crimes on their behalf like Gonzalez and a lot of the Justice Dept did for Bush.

It's something with no depth. Obama wanted to buy a house, the owner demanded that Obama buy the adjacent lot, too. So Rezko's wife bought the lot, sold a portion of the lot to the Obama's when they wanted to expand their property (at market value) and then sold the rest of the property at a profit.

Obama didn't get a sweetheart deal, Rezko did. The only thing that is bad for Obama in this is the poor judgment he showed in having a relationship with Rezko. But there was no corruption there.

Rezko getting sentenced will provide a blip for McCain.

It might be mentioned in the midst of discussion about Senator and convicted felon Ted Stevens' ties to Sarah Palin. (If Stevens is convicted, more might be made of this.)

On the other hand, unless Rezko actually says anything, this is nothing but hope fodder for the Freepers.

GOP may be getting desperate, and if tonights debate goes downhill for them fast they will be desperate to get the bad press off of them and back on Obama. My guess is they have Rezko's balls in a pair of wire cutters right now, and when its time Rezko will come out and say all kinds of damning quotes that will bring Obama down in the polls.

Truth has nothing to do with it, this is politics. If Rezko is willing to die to keep Obama on the path to president then they will simply threaten his family, like all of em.
