Wow. Solamente wow.

Whamdangler 2008-09-22 03:37:14 PM
He can't be serious?

Kitwilly [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:37:50 PM
what the hell is that? was his site hacked? is he trying to be funny, because it was presenting it as fact. Is he a creationist? I think not, he is pretty liberal. seriously. what the hell was that?

smooshie [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:40:38 PM

NikolaiFarkoff [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:41:38 PM
Two opposable thumbs up?

Kitwilly [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:43:24 PM
smooshie: So, it's either hacked or unfunny satire.

really unfunny. was his thought process, I will present as fact what they really believe and you will have to laugh, like the South Park Mormon thing, which WAS funny?

ninjakirby [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:48:40 PM
Q. Why would God create such an absurd creature as a moose?

A. In charity, we must observe that the moose probably does not seem absurd to itself.

I'm voting joke, cause this question is just.. it has to be a joke.

filth [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:49:15 PM
I'm having trouble taking this at face value. Incidentally, he responds to e-mail. I think I'll write him.

HulkHands [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:49:44 PM
Q. How long did the Great Flood last?

A. We know that Noah was 600 years, two months and 17 days old when he sailed. Using that as a starting point and counting forward, Genesis tells us it lasted for 40, 150, 253, 314 or 370 days.

In Genesis 6, God is quoted as saying "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years.

Oops.

whidbey [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:50:05 PM
Maybe he should have made that movie instead of Ben Stein...

Hibno 2008-09-22 03:51:24 PM
FTA: Created at the same time as man. They did not survive. In fact, all surviving species and many others were created fully formed at the same time. At that moment they were of various ages and in varying degrees of health. Some individuals died an instant later, others within seconds, minutes or hours.

Wait, that can't be real. This has to be satirical. There is no way anybody could believe that god created a shiat ton of neanderthals and things just so they could die instantly. WTF? Now that is grasping at straws. I've never even heard creationists use this argument.

meekychuppet 2008-09-22 03:58:02 PM
If this is not satir then he is clearly a professional imbecile.

whidbey [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 03:58:45 PM
meekychuppet: If this is not satir then he is clearly a professional imbecile.

And if Gene Siskel were still alive, he'd give this a thumbs-down...

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:03:16 PM
I'm confused. Why would he post something like this, even if it is satire?

RobertBruce [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:05:33 PM
my brain hurts. wow.

wee [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:05:39 PM
Hibno: There is no way anybody could believe that god created a shiat ton of neanderthals and things just so they could die instantly. WTF? Now that is grasping at straws. I've never even heard creationists use this argument.

I've heard exactly that. I went to a christian school for 8 years. Science class was always a hoot. But, yeah, that's basically the gist.

And don't be so quick to discount the power of "faith". Reason and faith are inherently at odds, and so it's not really so much of a stretch for faith to invent the completely irrational. (Nor is it for the rational to invalidate that which is predicated solely on faith.)

Anyway, it's either satire or he's superstitiously irrational.

ruta [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:06:59 PM
smooshie's link suggests that this is a hack or Ebert is on some powerful pain medications.

Xenomech 2008-09-22 04:17:52 PM
Just FYI, most of Ebert's answers are non-Biblical and are based purely on speculation.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:18:12 PM
That's what people who are about to die do, They turn to religion because they're scared of their own mortality.

Sad, really but who says I won't lose my shiat when the end is near.

Noah's Arcade 2008-09-22 04:18:29 PM
Dear Roger,

You'd be dead if it weren't for science practiced by doctors. God didn't float down from the heavens and heal you. So STFU and GBTW.

Poor man is more far gone than I thought.

W. T. Fark [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:19:08 PM
Has the whole world gone crazy?

incircles 2008-09-22 04:20:16 PM
I thought it was rather enlightening and obviously satire.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:21:22 PM
Someone ask him about the stars that are millions of light years away but we can see them.

Second thought, just leave that poor farker alone.

Nickers 2008-09-22 04:21:51 PM
Ow, my balls brain. WTF was that article about? I sure hope that was satire because it's some scary shiat if he's serious.

treecologist 2008-09-22 04:22:02 PM
Not only does he support creationism, he's a young-earther. That's a whole 'nother level of crazy.

Meh, I never paid attention to him anyway.

rjShadow [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:22:05 PM
What else do you expect from a guy whose only real job in life was watching and biatching about movies?

Cyrano 2008-09-22 04:22:14 PM
This from the brilliant mind that wrote Beyond The Valley of the Dolls?

/thinks not

susler 2008-09-22 04:22:22 PM
I'm confused too. I didn't find it obviously anything except disturbing.

Hobbit Mob 2008-09-22 04:22:25 PM
I'm sad now.

stupidfarkaccount 2008-09-22 04:22:30 PM
I think it's hilarious. It's a shame that subtle humor and satire is so difficult to recognize in public discourse.

entropic_existence [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:22:42 PM
Pretty sure that was satire. Check out the answers to things like how long did the flood last where he lists a whole bunch of contradicting time periods and such. It just wasn't very funny is all.

ctsamurai 2008-09-22 04:22:44 PM
Successful troll is successful.

Ebert rules!

Lolthien 2008-09-22 04:22:49 PM
I pray that this is a joke.. er.. wait, I HOPE this is a joke.

I've never understood why science and faith have to be at odds really. One deals with the supernatural and existential, and the other deals with the world around us.

Seems a pretty farked up life to think only one of those has any worth.

Gerald Tarrant 2008-09-22 04:22:54 PM
What about carbon dating? Or the fact that there is no evidence for half the "facts" he pulls from somewhere.. either his but or Bevet's website but both are probably the same place....

headkick 2008-09-22 04:22:54 PM
Evolution is not a theory. Natural selection is a theory that explains the observed evolution, just as gravity is a theory that explains why the anvil always falls on Wile E. Coyote.

What's god doing with all that fresh water he took, anyway?

Studio Ghibli 2008-09-22 04:23:11 PM
No farking way.

Guy's being a dick.

Just.. you know. Save for the last question, there's no way to distinguish between him being serious, fundie, and crazy--and amusing.

Isn't there some internet law or something about how people can't make a joke about religion without coming off like an asshole unless they use winkies?

give me doughnuts [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:23:15 PM
And even if it was serious, and real, this guy's opinion would be relevant because...?

icanhazstapler [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:23:30 PM
In all fairness, Roger did just have major, major surgery (part of his jaw had to be removed and he is currently breathing through a hole in his neck), so I'm going to assume that this is an expression of fear in the face of impending death and a desire to make amends with god in the event that god does exist after all. I wouldn't take any of this too seriously.

costa [TotalFark] 2008-09-22 04:23:35 PM
EPIC FAIL

sckonkh 2008-09-22 04:23:37 PM
RobertBruce: my brain hurts. wow.

Drown the hurt away with some moonshine my friend

jpat 2008-09-22 04:23:57 PM
Does he normally write about other things? It seems very out of left field that he would up and one day satirize Creationism.

Sgt. Pepper 2008-09-22 04:24:01 PM
Q. Why would God create such an absurd creature as a moose?

A. In charity, we must observe that the moose probably does not seem absurd to itself.

Odd. I mean, why the random hostility toward moose? Did a moose bite his sister or something?

Shrinkwrap 2008-09-22 04:24:04 PM
My uncle and his family believe all of this.

FeFiFoFark 2008-09-22 04:24:16 PM
Well, he's convinced me!

Poe's Law.

LarryDan43 2008-09-22 04:24:28 PM
It's satire people! Probably in response to all the crazies asking that he review the Ben Stein movie.
