It depends on what you propose.

If that ends it right there, rather than being the start of years of misery, it's an excellent sign.

from here:

Here's what happened, according to the Sheriff's Office: Lagrant and her boyfriend, Bruce Montle, were at home Saturday night when they started arguing about a marriage proposal. It's unclear whether one was actually made.
i bet the argument was because he wouldn't propose

You know, after a hooker's been in your trunk for 3 hours and duct taped, it's pretty much the only answer you're going to get.

There seems to be a step missing between "proposal" and "flying knives." At least 3 or 4 steps, really.

From the comments under the article;

I used to work with a couple in Ft. Lauderdale and they were living together. The guy hired a plane to fly over our store at noon with a banner asking her to marry him. Everyone but her knew about it and were waiting outside for the big event. The plane flies over, she reads the banner and turns to him and says no. Then she quit and left.

Boyfriend staying with abusive girlfriend... something tells me this guy is more whipped than a nazi facing Indiana Jones.

I submitted this with a better headline.

Live-in girlfriend throws knives at boyfriend after marriage proposal. No word if she said "yes."

/Maybe she popped the question, and the boyfriend said, "Fark no."

Count me in the group who thinks that either the ring wasn't big enough or he took to long to ask or he hasn't asked at all and she thinks it's about time.

Have they found a way to shift blame upon the man yet?

Being, as he is, after all, a man and such and her being a woman there's no way she'll be held accountable for this.

Hey dumbass, RTFA. She is in jail, charged with aggravated domestic assault. Is that accountable enough for you? Or are you upset because the cops didn't behead her on the spot? Even when women are prosecuted for crimes, you have to imagine male persecution, or your whiny ass titty baby self won't be happy.

Is this where the punching and throwing of knives begins?

I saw a girl break down and cry then run away once when a guy and some friends did a sing and dance number and then proposed. The guy proposed, not all the friends.

It was in a very public area, so that's about as bad as a thrown knife.

Whatsa' matter toots? Never read the news?

"He was mean, he was verbally abusive, he was this or that he, he, he, he, he."

They'll put the focus on him.

She'll walk.

All an attorney has to do is paint her as a "delicate flower" and the man as some sort of boorish oafish troglodyte and it'll be over and done.

Were he to have done the same thing he'd be facing an attempted murder rap.

Even when women are prosecuted for crimes, domestic violence groups still find a way to say that domestic violence is an issue of "man bully, woman victim". Newspapers say it. Special interest groups say it. Colored ribbon campaigns say it. Everything but the facts say it.

Now, perhaps if you didn't attempt to parse his rhetoric at face value, you might have seen this as the 'underlying motif'.

And even if she's found guilty and sentenced, that does not mean that society will stop seeking to make it all his fault. Remember, this is the society that stood up for Andrea Yates and said that it was her husband's fault.

And even if she's found guilty and sentenced, that does not mean that she will receive anything even close to an equitable sentence, because the notion of a man beaten by his wife is still 'funny' and nothing to be taken seriously.

Then she's no longer your "girlfriend." She's your fiancee--- congrats!

As someone who has been with the Ball and Chain for almost six years, I am also of the opinion that the gentleman did not propose and it set the female OFF.

to be fair, she's not in jail. feel free to read the link i provided earlier. she was released without even having to post bond. just saying...

Didn't see your link, just the story, which said she was in jail. In fact, this is pretty common for domestic violence cases. Most of the accused are released on their own recognizance. And it even happens for murder of unrelated people. Like, for instance, this guy Link (new window)

or this one: Link (new window)

or this: Link (new window)

or this:Link (new window)

Even when you think they could never be out: Link (new window)

So this is not a gift given to the li'l women.

Okay, wait... ARE YOU SERIOUS? Sweetheart, we are out of that era. Just in case you haven't noticed, women get just as much blame as men. No, they are not as publicized as men are but they get into just as much and are also punished equally in our times. Grow up and get over that sexist bullshiat, really.

I also don't see why this is such a big deal. That's hot. Scratching, knives, etc. bring it on. It's wonderful. I don't understand why everyone is putting it down.

That she erupted in homicidal maniacal fury out of the blue is a noun phrase that defies ordinary human psychology.

Unless maybe you are Joe Pesci. Is she Joe Pesci? (The article doesn't say.) (Oh all right I fess up: DRFA).

Sex_Doll_22: Just in case you haven't noticed, women get just as much blame as men.

As long as any interest group continues to claim that the root causes for domestic violence stem from gender, not from who has control in the relationship, you are sadly mistaken.
