The fall itself didn't kill him. It was prolly the sudden stopping that did it.

I believe it's termed 'acute deceleration trauma.'

Or 'asshattery.' I forget which.

Yeah, and his last words were: "No problem! Hey, ya'll watch this!" Is there really any reason to comment on the cause of death? Was there even a need to ask? Fell 40 feet onto a hard, unyielding surface. Yup, that'll do it. ACK!

Well, the tv was probably turned up really loud and that jerk down the hall probably complained to the manager, so he was out on the ledge to try and disconect the cable, but he couldn't get to it. He should have just turned his up really loud so they'd all think that there was a problem with all the tvs on the floor.

Threee cheers for self defenestration!

After rtfa, a smoke detector was going off even after he had time to talk to the other neighbors about it. At night. I felt happier when I assumed he was tryin' to rob the place. But still, he should just gotten the super to open it, or called the fire department.

/Ah, well. At least he didn't land on anybody.
//landed in a shallow, rocky river so he probably went spash, not splat.

I wonder if he was trying to get a mineral water...

The cops are sending someone to England to interview a person of interest: Isaac Newton, rumored to have invented the Law of Gravity.

RTFA. Fire alarm, not TV, asshat. Your comment doesn't even make sense.

/cranky. needs a nap.

Someone needs to get David Caruso on the case. In one hour, we'll find that he was already murdered before he attempted the climb.

My aunt came home late one night (likely a bit tipsy) and realized she had forgotten her apartment keys. Rather than buzz her brother (my uncle) who lived in the same building, she tried to climb the fire escape. She got up to the third story but then lost her balance when trying to open her window and fell backwards. Luckily she landed in a dumpster and just broke a few bones.

Of course when the police arrived they woke her brother anyway and he wound up traveling to the hospital in the ambulance, so she would have been better off waking him in the first place to get the spare key. This is actually one of the least stupid things she's done during her lifetime.

So I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

i've had nightmares kind of like this. what a stupid way to go.

Came here to point out this FTA:

"Smith would not say whether anyone else lived in Wardlow's apartment.

"We're protecting juvenile information, and we're not giving out any more names of people," he said. "

So, in other words, other people DID live in the man's apartment, one or more juveniles. Ah-DUH!

Oh, and; Gravity and Darwin FTW!

That's what I was wondering. Why not get someone with keys to open the door and turn it off? If he wouldn't, then maybe there was an actual fire in there and you got concerned that the people inside were going to die, and that's why you kicked in the door.
