You're lucky... I doubt if Obama will come to the Central Valley.

overcast, looked like it might start raining at any minute, but otherwise nice out.

Actually, there was a very large Jamaican contingent there.

And yet, according to Dad, Obama is 'finished' and 'McCain has this election wrapped up'.

I think Dad is in for a shock come the day after the election....

The worst thing in the world would be for any of us to get over confident and not bother voting. It will be close.

Indeed. I'm not even taking voting in my own state for granted; sure, California is locked up for Obama, but I'd also like to see him take the popular vote by as large a margin as possible -- particularly after all the to-do President Bush made about his "mandate" in 2004.

BigEd [TotalFark] 2008-09-20 07:48:04 PM
Sadly McCain's probably going to get Florida. I didn't get to Metro Park (Gator Football) but was glad to see a big turnout. I got caught up in the McCain Rally traffic last week and this annoying kid in a schoolbus would not stop waving a campaign sign at me. No matter what I tried he kept winding up next to me until I could finally turn onto Bay Steet.

DistendedPendulusFrenulum 2008-09-20 08:07:25 PM
I am taking voting very seriously. And it's not the McCain. It's the Palin. We need as little administrative incompetency as possible. This is a conservative issue. Maximizing incompetency to "energize the base" and "piss off the liberals" has wrecked the conservative movement, and screwed up the country as well.

.

I wonder if McCain came up with the idea for the blackberry during his 5 1\2 years.

A weird unanticipated side effect of McCain picking Palin is that now Obama can hold huge rallies again without the media being skeptical.

He just has to keep hitting McCain as being part of the Washington establishment, and STAY ON THE ECONOMY.

I think Obama's lead will widen after the upcoming debate, since we can count on McCain saying something that pops into his head - like the "$5 million is wealthy" or "100 years in Iraq" or "the fundamentals of the economy are strong."

He'll give Obama some wonderful soundbytes, like he already has.

HOWEVER...it is NOT a done deal. Even if we're sure Obama has it wrapped up on the morning of November 4 we still need to get out and vote - even if the motivation is to give him a mandate and a landslide. DON'T TAKE VICTORY FOR GRANTED.

jacksonville.com is reporting 12K in the park and 8K outside the park listening... one of the biggest crowds he has had since the convention. Not all that surprising Jacksonville/ Duval was one of the only places obama took in the primary (=

You never know. He celebrated the 4th of July in friggin Butte, MT.

At this point, I'd say you would have better luck being invited to Mick Jaggers house for a beer than to get within 15 feet of Obama. Granted I've only been around a short time but have never seen a politcial candidate so popular.

I don't know how Obama is going to deal with the problems we're facing, but I do know that I would feel infinitely better with a pair of steady hands at the wheel instead of a hothead Keating 5 member and a vapid vindictive former beauty queen.

I am stuck in Texas, and I just made sure to update my address for voter registration. I know there is no way in hell Obama will carry Texas. Dammit, I wish I was back home in Colorado, where I might actually have an impact.

I live in NC and just recently moved from Georgia. I know what it's like to feel like your vote doesn't count. However in the popular vote.....they all do, and I want him to get as many of those as he can. So yes, your vote DOES count.

I think the National Security debate this coming Friday will wind up being about the economy - as in "A stable and powerful economy is a national security issue," etc. Perhaps even point out the WTC being a target because it was a symbol of our economic might.

Nah. I'd still look at her passed-out ass and say "Awesome." Then I'd eject the videotape, wipe my schlong on her curtains, get dressed and get the hell out of Dodge.

Does anyone know why there's such a disparity between the projections at 538 and electoral-vote.com? 300+ electoral votes seems pretty high, given what the numbers were like just last week.

I can say in all honesty -- I really don't think this election is going to be close.

The gravitational pull of deep-seeded racism will either destroy Obama... or the wave of change and hatred for Bush, that started in 2006 will either destroy McCain. I can really see it either way... But I'm usually a lot better at predicting before I become emotionally involved... And my prediction -- before I knew Obama was that a black guy has zero chance and that will trump everything.

I don't forsee this being a close election, either way.

Nice one, subby.

The rally in Española, NM on Thursday was also as well-attended. I was among 11,000 who showed up. I have a horrible sunburn from waiting in the 2-hour line and 2-hour rally.

One weights more on more recent polls and uses a completely different statistical measure... The princeon election site is really the best one.. if you want to keep up with it..
