To imply that Elvis' influence on music isn't still resounding is silly.

Elvis embodied the generation he was a part of, folks cling to his 'original' image and veer far away from the fat, drug addled Elvis that washed up in Vegas and died.

Somehow I think Eminem thinks he's the worst thing since Elvis Presley to do black music so selfishly and used it to get himself wealthy

Hey - there's a concept that works...

Eminem has a lot of people who hate him, and people who hate rap - but IMO, he will be relevant 30 years from now - songs like Sing for the Moment and Lose yourself will still be playing in stadiums too

jwhite33 2008-09-20 05:04:30 PM
Subby is referencing Eminem's own lyrics:

"I'm not the first king of controversy
I am the worst thing since Elvis Presley
to do black music so selfishly
and used it to get myself wealthy
Hey! There's a concept that works
Twenty million other white rappers emerge
But no matter how many fish in the sea
It'll be so empty, without me"

I don't know about that. All the Elvis impersonators I've ever seen represent the fat 70's Elvis.

Because, that's easy. What with the flashy jumpsuits, ugly jewelry and big 70's sideburns. Plus, the big gut. Anyone can do it. It's all in the costume.

Not many can do the 50's Elvis and sell it.

Eminem in the early part of his career wrote really good lyrics, I'd say he is obviously a much better WRITER than Elvis was. The only reason people ride Elvis' dick as much as they do is because he died and he was the epitome of early rock and roll. Eminem is not on that same level in the hip-hop genre, but that doesn't make him suck. It's two different kinds of music in two WAY different eras. Elvis sucks balls compared to a lot of other rock bands anyway, he's not THAT great, he's alright.

That's okay, everyone who hates Em, can comfort themselves with the fact that they won't spend their money on him.

Meanwhile, i'm sure Em has never spent his money on anything they've ever made either.

The difference is millions of other people have liked Em, while the haters... well, lets just say their mom still visits their myspace page from time to time.

You be sure to inform me when I've developed good taste.

What movies should I watch, how should I sytle my hair?
What religion should I believe in?

Please go do in a fire music snob. Elvis was the farking Justin Timberlake of rock and roll.
