Will be fun to watch all the Republicans denounce this as Partisan even more fiercely once the report is out.

I keep getting this image of a Price is Right style giant wheel in the Palin campaign headquarters. And, every morning, they spin it to find out what reason they will use to say that the firing was legit.

considering the fact the the original committee that ok'ed the investigation was 13 Republicans and 3 Democrats and that the 5 member panel that ok'ed the subpoenas was 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats that argument doesn't hold a lot of water.

Especially in light of the fact she was more than willing to cooperate before she found out that there were phone recordings proving she lied. I think her idea of "cooperating" was everyone sticking to the same lie and ride it out. Once that fell through it's cover up,hide ,stonewall and lie even more.

They can't just recycle the "serve at the pleasure of the President" crap from Bush and swap in Governor for president ?

As simpleminded as they are you'd think they stick with one excuse rather than struggling with dozens.

Meh, who cares. Palin and McCain aren't fit to run a 100 meter sprint, let alone a country. They'll lose on the failure of their ideas and their ridiculous campaign tactics.

Of course, if McCain/Palin are all about transparency, why isn't Sarah Palin cooperating with this investigation?

If McCain/Palin are all about transparency, why won't they release her tax returns?

the interesting aspect of this article is not that the probe will be over before the election, but this new revelation that Palin had lied about Monegan going "off the reservation" with his trip to DC, considering he had a signed authorization to do so from her chief of staff.

The Tony Danzas 2008-09-20 12:13:17 PM
FTA:

Gov. Sarah Palin's chief of staff authorized ex-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to travel to Washington, although the governor has cited that trip as a primary example of the insubordination that led to Monegan's firing.

Sounds like someone is losing track of her lies.

snarltron 2008-09-20 12:15:52 PM
So first (actually more like 5th, but who's counting) it was the trip that was unauthorized and led to the firing - now it's NOT the trip, or meeting with the Senator, but "lobbying Congress" for sex assault victim funds. Wonder what it'll be tomorrow.

Seriously, at this point, guilty or not, it seems like the coverup has gotten more total press than a swift resolution would have. It really makes me wonder what the McCain camp thinks would come out of this were the investigation allowed to continue, or if squelching investigations is just a knee-jerk reaction for most Republicans these days.

Funny how you never hear that fact on the news isn't it? You just hear the McCain's camp's spin that it was a partisan effort to harm her... hell it looks like it was, a republican effort.

Man, I really hope I do something really f'd up in the next year to cause me to be named in a subpoena.

I will make sure I get an amazing lawyer and then have him explain that whatever the reason I under subpoena, its not fair and I wont respond until they subpoena me for something different and more fair.

I dont care if im guilty or not...

A candidate for the Vice Presidency is already under investigation for corruption and abuse of power.

It is in the American peoples interest to determine whether or not she is guilty of these offenses.

Some people are trying to tell the American people that they should not care about this.

If Palin did nothing wrong, she has nothing to fear. It's good to see the due process of the law resolve this matter in a timely fashion so the American people can decide with all the facts present.

And if Palin violated the law, shame on her, and her betrayal of the people who put their trust in her.

Tabatha Static 2008-09-20 02:02:29 PM
lexslamman: what you meant to say is so incredibly ironic considering this (new window)

Right! If Palin's spiritual adviser says that witches are real and need to be hunted down, then I guess witch-hunting is a necessary and crucial activity deserving of all our attention.

To what end, people, to what end? Sure, you may manage to torpedo the McCain/Palin ticket and ensure an Obama whitehouse, but what did you accomplish? In the short term, you got your way....just like a child who just HAS to have the toy NOW. What you forget, is that the boiling hatred that millions have for you just ratchets up a notch. This goes for the other side as well, lest anyone think I'm just picking on the Democrats.

As long as our nation is divided into two hate-filled camps, we will never achieve our potential as a nation. Sure, there will be some short term satisfaction for one side or the other, but it will fall short of true progress. I suppose that is fine for the bulk of our population, that seems to be ok with behaving like overgrown children fighting over who rules the sandbox.
