"And one American singer has been so impressive the other band members are confident they could hit the road next year WITHOUT their iconic frontman."

This afternoon while I was driving home from work Whole Lotta Love came on the radio. I was sitting at a light singing along, pretty loud I might add when I looked over and saw a guy in a convertible that looked at lot like Jimmy Page. Well, the light had turned green and the guy was pulling away so all I saw was the back of his head, but it was white so who else could it have been? He must have heard me singing and been impressed, so I'm guessing they'll be calling me tomorrow to arrange a tour bus to pick me up. I thought that they would've talked to me before putting it out in the press, though.

The only plus of getting a new singer in is that whoever it will sing on pitch live far more often than Plant ever has.

You know, I can see a band, like, say, Great White having a revolving door and touring all the time just to pay the bills, but there's no way that Page and Jones are hurting for money and I'm sure Jason Bonham is doing all right too.

On a prog rock board I go to, there's a huge thread about the nonsense that Yes are up to. There was supposed to be a 40th anniversary tour of the classic lineup of Anderson/Howe/Squire/Wakeman/White but Mr. Sparkly Cape dropped out....to be replaced by his son Oliver and Anderson got very sick earlier this year and can't tour so.....they're bringing in a singer from a Yes tribute band and going out on the road. It's totally embarrassing and while some fans are "I love the music, I'm not picky about who plays it", I think Yes are in for a rude awakening at the box office without Anderson and Wakeman, especially if the reports of them charging $90 and up for a ticket are true.

Did none of you catch the clue at the end?

"Tin Zeppelin."

David Bowie had a short-lived band called Tin Machine. They are hinting at Bowie fronting Zeppelin. Insane idea if you ask me. Chris Cornell would be perfect. Or maybe that guy from The Darkness. :)

Ordell, Bowie Lives in NYC, but he's hardly an American singer.

I had tix for Page/Crowes in 2000, still pissed they cancelled the Atlanta show. I don't get why Plant isn't into a reunion tour, it's not like anyone would be coming to see him and allison krause if he weren't the frontman for Zep.

Why does ageism exist only with rock music? Nobody told Sinatra to stop, Mozart to stop, Miles Davis to stop. They aren't geezer bands, they are the same band (assuming the same lineup) that they were 30 years ago. They've aged, they don't look the same, whatever, but why should they stop?

FredGarvin: Ordell, Bowie Lives in NYC, but he's hardly an American singer.

/facepalm

I know who Bowie is and that he's not American. They said multiple singers are working with the band, and one is American. My money is on Cornell.

Rodgers would be an awesome choice but he's about to tour with Queen. What a mismatch that is.

If they picked Coverdale, that would be such a fark you in Plant's direction it wouldn't be funny.

As for you anti-reunion folks, I'm telling you, this was spurred on by Richard Wright's death. Gilmour farked around too long and now the opportunity is lost. The Police had to do their tour because Andy Summers is much older than the other two, 66 years old now. If they didn't do it last year, it would be too late.

Whether it's a victory lap, a chance to play to new fans or a thank you to fans who stuck with them through all the trends, or all the above, I really don't fault these older bands for wanting one last chance to play to their fans and, quite honestly, say goodbye.

I've always been of the opinion that Ringo & Paul should join The Who. After all, they're missing a bassist and a drummer.

Seriously? If they need someone that can sing all of their songs and hit all the right notes; Ann Wilson is the logical, and sanest choice. Heart includes, or has in the past, several Led Zep songs in their setlists.

Subby: Page is the only one in an old-age stupor. Plant and Jones have gone on to have interesting and varied musical careers. Meanwhile, Page has been rehashing the same riffs for 40 years.

PS: Does anyone have the Krauss/Plant tapes before T-Bone Burnett trashed them?
