I heard something also about the collapse of our economy destroying the entire western world, but, man, fark that Biden guy!

SphericalTime [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 08:16:52 PM
Uh. Isn't he allowed to root for his home town team? I thought that was sort of required for presidential/vice presidential candidates.

An Ohio State University.

I am beginning to realize the subtle genius behind Obama's choice of Joe Biden:
When Joe makes a gaffe, nobody is surprised, and everybody who matters just skips right over it.

Meanwhile, the right-wing jizzmoppers are so busy masturbating to the photoshopped shot of 'Sarah' in a bikini with a BB rifle that they are unable to capitalize on Joe's minor (albeit hourly) slipups.

As posted in a redlit thread about this garbage -

He's from DELAWARE, Ohio voters will understand that. It's not when politicians are honest about this kind of stuff, it's when they're blatantly pandering and get busted - Kerry and "Lambert Field," Guiliani and "I'm rooting for the Red Sox," etc.

Joe Biden is like that uncle who told you dirty jokes and snuck you a beer at a family get-together when you were only 16 years old.

fark the buckeyes. He may have cost the Obama Ohio, but he sure delivered Michigan.

Ohio sucks anyways, it's pretty much the Florida of the Midwest, minus the coolness. shiat, all Ohio could aspire to be is a wannabe Florida. They've got the rednecks, retarded political scheme, but lack all the cool stuff like subtropical weather, ocean coastline, and a healthy economy. Only in Ohio can you be talking about Miami, and not refer to a city in Florida. And Cedar Point is really just a poor man's Disney world.

Ohio. Pffft! What a joke!

It wouldn't surprise me if McCain tells every crowd that he supported their local team.

Has anybody noticed how Biden has become the new McCain '00?
I mean he's always running his mouth and saying such hilariously daffy but harmless things. The press tries their best to report it with a straight face, but you can tell they love it.
Seriously, "Oh that Joe! (Part 13)" these guys love the freewheeling, irrepressible Biden. This love will be put to the test during the VP debate. I can't imagine any possible debate where Biden makes it through without referring to her as some variant of: Nice, Young, Attractive, Lady, Spunky, Perky, Easy on the Eyes, Gal, etc. He just (as Biden says) literally cannot do it.
Will reporters lament that he's of a generation where such casual sexism was accepted, or will they say "Oh that Joe! (Part 23)" ?

Quasar [TotalFark] 2008-09-20 04:30:29 AM
This article (^) from the CNN political blog is more hilarious.

The state GOP is already attacking the Democratic ticket over the comments, as well as his comments yesterday suggesting it was patriotic for some wealthier Americans to pay higher taxes.

"As if his comments about it being a patriotic duty for Ohioans to pay higher taxes weren't bad enough, now Biden is taking pot shots at the Buckeyes," GOP State chair Bob Bennett said. "Barack Obama and Joe Biden must really think they can win this election without Ohio, because they're doing their best to lose it with stupid comments like these. Keep talking, Joe."

Thankfully the Dems retaliated pretty quickly:

David Wade, a spokesman for Biden said, "I think this episode explains exactly why we'll win Ohio: Joe Biden is loyal to his home team, and John McCain is loyal to President Bush."

"We forgive the Republicans on this one, though," he added. "After watching John McCain flip flop on everything from taxes to torture, they're just mystified by someone who takes a position and sticks with it."

There is no outrage like desperate Republican outrage.

If anyone votes for a candidate because his/her opponent dissed a football team, they don't deserve the right to vote at all.

Quasar: David Wade, a spokesman for Biden said, "I think this episode explains exactly why we'll win Ohio: Joe Biden is loyal to his home team, and John McCain is loyal to President Bush."

haha, that's good spin. Anyone who cares about football totally gets that. They'll even find it endearing and a bit adorable that his home team is such a lightweight. The only way it could've been problematic is if he said "kick OSU's ass" to Michigan's team or possibly another conference rival.

blubberknife 2008-09-20 07:50:47 AM
Well, you know how it is...

Republicans got nothing, so they try to manufacture any stupid little controversy they can think of.

It goes something like this- headline:
"Obama proposes scaling back NASA's planned misson to the Moon and Mars to help pay for education costs"

Republicans:
"Obama is anti-Moon! Why does he hate the Moon?"

Democrats:
"This anti-Moon charge is total nonsense"

Republicans:
"No it isn't! The election now hinges on this single most important issue of our lifetime! Not only that, but we have to send troops to the Moon in order to secure it from Muslim Extremists®!!"

Democrats:
*facepalm*

Republicans:
"Ah-ha! See? No response from the Democrats! We're right! Send troops to the Moon now!! USA! USA!"

If you're basing your vote on what the candidate says about your (shiatty) college football team, you need your voting rights revoked.
