It looks like the video is of Obama's ad. Odd that the youtube link to that ad was removed by Fox News huh.

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Fox News Network, LLC

So basically Fox can remove any video they don't like by claiming copyright violation....

"As Mr. Garrett is a non-partisan news correspondent...", and then I stopped reading, as nose-expelled cola streamed down the monitor.

I came here for a Mrs. Garrett reference.

I would like to thank strangeguitar for keeping the place from falling apart.

Carry on.

The whole point of this is that Ailes doesn't want to lose access to the Obama campaign again, because the words of their reporter were taken out of context.

And the video is GONE!

There goes another of the straight talk ads that I have come to love from the McCain Campaign. What has this world come to; when a good, God-fearing christen like myself cannot get my daily dose of Truth from the McCain Campaign?

According to an email that I received just the other day, Obambi is planing on making all newly pregnant women have abortions to commemorate his ascendancy as the Anti-Christ! We need to have the truth out out there!

Yep, they don't even get to host a debate. I wished Obama didn't go on Bill-O last week, and just boycott Fox for what they really are. I'm sure Fox knows that Obama has a very good chance of winning the White House, and if he does, being shunned out of the WH would pretty much ruin the network.

Wow, is that really the type of email smears that they're trying to stick on Obama?

are you kidding? an obama presidency will do wonders for fox. face it, the country is basically divided, half-half, and if mccain wins, they won't be able to biatch about the president as effectively. if everything had been "going well" during bush's presidency, people wouldn't be watching these networks. people are watching because they LIKE seeing disasters. they're not interested in being informed about events (BBC is better) or about the economy (Bloomberg) (or otherwise they could read newspapers, or read a collection of websites' infos....)

Um. It was a McCain ad, and it was removed because it contained copywritten material of a Fox News anchor being used out of context. When you use someone's material for your own ad, and they ask you to remove it, you have to do it or else they'll sue your ass. Did you not read TFA at all?

I gotta say though, I am amused by how easily McCain is playing the media. The most talked about ads so far have not been ones he has paid for TV time for. He wins two ways, by getting free coverage [even if it is spluttering outrage], and by putting negative stuff about Obama out into the ether, which rightly or wrongly sticks at least a little. This is how a broke-ass campaign holds its own against Obama's money machine. Every thing he has done, including the Palin pick, has been in an aim to garner attention and keep everyone from Zzzzz...what was I talking about again?

Frankly, the only downside for McDole is if the American people suddenly get smart. And no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of that lot.

Basically anyone can demand YouTube remove a video by claiming copyright violation, you just need to show sufficient evidence for your claim.

I've had videos of mine pirated on YouTube and one email was all it took (being able to link to my official copyright.gov listing made it a slam-dunk). The videos were always gone within the hour.

The dead link originally went to the official McCain YouTube page, what's interesting is that the video was removed by YouTube - so either the McCain camp refused or wasn't given time to voluntarily remove it themselves.

When even Fox doesn't want McCain using their material in his ads, yikes...

chipspastic 2008-09-19 08:54:46 PM
The Republicans have evolved; they used to pirate pop-tunes for their campaign rallies, now they pirate video for campaign ads. Maybe McCain thought Ailes wouldn't let the dogs out.

Bad news for the Republicans if Murdoch turns on them after Mike Powell implemented that vile deal.

McCain ad, Obama ad, it makes no difference. Apparently you're unaware of fair-use laws. Whichever candidate had the ad, had the copyright on that ad. Not Fox.

Fox said it was inappropriate for them to use it because of the political ramifications. Not because of copyright issues (because there were none).

Do you not know a farking thing at all?

If you use their programming material without their permission, yes.

The McCain campaign seems to have some problems grokking intellectual property.

The only reason Obama isn't 10-20 points ahead are:

1) He's black.
2) Fox News and vile right wing radio.
3) Main stream media that loves and props up McCain.

Other than that, Obama's got this thing...

...he just has absolutely no room for error.

It has been that way for a long time. There was a situation a while back when some random kid asked youtube to remove some videos of a TV show that were allowed to be there, and they took them off straight away.

This may be the funniest phrase I've ever read in my life. (Unfortunately I'm in class and LOLing would look bad.)
