Obama is the better candidate for women. Why should we be surprised that women are donating to his campaign, regardless of who their husband may be?

I bet Obama solicited those donations. He's very solicitous of white women.

Of course! That MUST be it. The wives of lobbyists are donating money because of "women's issues!"

How would he check to see if these are lobbyist's spouses? Registered lobbyists are, you know, registered, so there's a database to check against. Their spouses aren't, so they get through the filter.

humongous this. about five minutes of research would have invalidated this entire article, but somehow I doubt they're that worried about it. Worthless article, worthless concern.

FTA

Cleland charitably says he was not offended by the disinvitation. But the rest of us should be.

Um, why?

So Obama holds the line and doesn't invite him because he's a registered lobbyist, which should somehow offend us - but when Obama's campaign doesn't check the family connections of every donor, that's bad?

SCANDAL!

McCain has said he is not taking money from lobbiest when?

The point of this is that Obama is as two faced as any politician in the history of America. He has proven that he will nearly say and do anything to win this election.

FTFA: found that more than 20 spouses of prominent Washington lobbyists have donated to the Obama campaign

So let's call that 25 spouses, and let's assume that each give the maximum of $2300 to Obama... so we're looking at an approximate total of $57,500.

Wow. That's almost .1% of what Obama pulled last month alone*.

I'm very concerned about the undue influence that these lobbyist spouses are having on the Obama campaign.

*I think. Math is hard.

Did any of these spouses give illegal contributions or amounts larger than allowed?

When you donate money, do you have to list what your spouse does for a living?

Is it incumbent upon the campaign to vet the families of all donors?

BravadoGT: Of course! That MUST be it. The wives of lobbyists are donating money because of "women's issues!"

So what you're saying is that a women should not allowed to perform in the political process because they're married? Think about it. If Obama was going to accept money from lobbyists, he would be accepting far far more than just the $2300 or so you can get from a single contributor. Hell, if I was a lobbyist and my wife was pushover enough to donate to whoever I wanted, I would make her donate on top of my own donation anyway. So if you look at it like that, he's still taking reduced funding from lobbyists.

So how far up the genealogy tree does the Obama campaign have to research for every donation? Wives of lobbyists? Long-lost cousins? Dentists? Or as Neeek said, maybe they should just check people who are registered as lobbyists as prescribed by law.

Unless of course, that lobbyist has war injuries, then we should be offended when Obama refuses money. But he shouldn't accept money from Cleland's wife.

There's a big difference when someone gives money as a lobbyist to further their agenda and someone that gives it in support of someone.

Are you just being a total inbred moron or do you have proof this "huge sum of money lol", was given to further an agenda?

Ya, didn't think so.
