Dear god.....That is HORRIBLE

IrateShadow [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 01:34:39 PM
Eesh, I hope that it has to go through another round of mixing. It wouldn't pass muster for radio, let alone the theme of a major motion picture.

I liked View to a Kill, movie and song. But it's no Live and Let Die or Spy Who Loved Me.

Russ Fischer (the author of the article) may have his head up his
ass for dissing YOU KNOW MY NAME (the Chris Cornell-penned theme
from CASINO ROYALE), which rocks 9 ways to Sunday, but he's spot
on about this new one:

I kinda liked the last James Bond theme.

you know my name (pops and I swear not a rickroll)

Or maybe I liked it because the movie was so good I just associate the two...

Nah... it's a decent catchy little song.

it'll work better over the opening credits... from 2:30 to 2:50 needs to be cut out. other than that it's alright.

The Glass Dragon 2008-09-19 03:04:51 PM
It has Jack White. Of course it's gonna suck.

/farking hates The White Stripes

nijika 2008-09-19 03:06:41 PM
In relative terms, it's good, in fact I'm really looking forward to having it on my iPod.

That is, of course, unless you're a new country fan, or if you listen to nothing but Def Leopard. Basically if your music store is Wal-Mart, you'll hate it. It may be too out there for you.

I hate Chris Cornell, but I like that song despite myself. This song I'd have to hear more of it and see it in the opening context.

But then again I'm a huge White Stripes fan, so I'm very forgiving.

i listened thinking all you Farkers are always over critical... but that gave a new meaning to suckage.

I hope they scrap it and relegate it to closing credits at the best

Name an existing song that would make a great Bond theme.

Mine: Kiss Them For Me by Susie and the Banshees.

I wonder what Amy Winehouse's version sounds like? She may be a train wreck, but I like her music.

As a Bond fan who doesn't need Wikipedia to name all the Bond themes and who sings them, I approve of this song. The most recent awful bond theme was "Die Another Day" by Madonna. You can almost picture the opening credits when you listen to "Another Way To Die".

candriessen 2008-09-19 03:34:27 PM
I really want to hear Winehouse's version.

The odd bit of synchronicity is that I just put YOU KNOW MY NAME
onto my new MP3 player (Lenoxx generic $20 POS that sucks
batteries like pixie sticks, but sounds great, gets FM and is an
SD card reader), and burned it to a CD so I can blare it at
traffic lights when I'm idling next to a douchebag in an SUV on
their cellphone.

And I despised Soundgarden!

Bot v2.38beta 2008-09-19 03:37:21 PM
The instumental version (pops) in the Coke add Jack was all upset about is alright. Take out the vocals and it's very suiting for a bond movie.

How about the one by Sheryl Crow - Tomorrow Never Dies? Though admittedly I never even gave that song a chance, since I farking hate Sheryl Crow, mostly because she was such a high and mighty feminist. Her going and doing a Bond Theme song illustrates her fail.

/agreed, the new song isn't terrible

Man, for two usually talented people, they sound hilarious together. In a big, weird, bad way.

Would've loved to hear the writer-guy's suggestion of Tunde Adebimpe though.

factoryconnection 2008-09-19 03:49:48 PM
I'm not surprised that the academy of Fark musical luminaries is tearing this apart... it features successful musicians, after all.

The horn section is Bond-theme required, and it sounds fairly evil in the right parts. The guitar solo (?) needs to go and the mixing is typical for a 'net leak. I'd prefer, for this application, that Jack White not sing. But all in all I did like it.

"A View to a Kill," it ain't, though.

/le Bon
//Simon le Bon

Oh, I forgot to play "Bond Theme Suggestion..."

"Come Undone" by Duran Duran; they know what they're doing. That underwater guitar phaser would look great with silhouetted girls on trampolines.

That song blows syphilitic monkey dick. Not that "Quantum of Solace" is a great title to work with, but damn! It does provide a great example of why I think Jack White is wickedly overrated.

Dr. No gets the props for the original "Bond Theme"

Live and Let Die (the original) FTW

The Beatles song "You Know My Name" would make a good James Bond theme too.
