Well this is surely the endorsement the Republicans were looking for...

Three Crooked Squirrels [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 12:40:58 AM
When I was a teenager, I went to a Damn Yankees concert. We sat directly across the from the stage. It must've been 1991, because at some point, an effigee (sp?) of Sadaam Hussein was dropped from the ceiling and Nugent shot an arrow from the stage into the effigee. I believe the arrow was afire, but I'm not positive. I am positive that me and my friends were like "What the fark? That thing looked like it was coming right at us."

Anyway, the point of my whole story is that I can't believe that I once went to a Damn Yankees concert.

Team Damon.

But Ted Nugent seems like a dumbass."

That should get you on some sort of watch list.

If (when) this country goes to hell, I want the Nuge by my side, not the panty-waist Matt Damon.

BobtheFascist 2008-09-19 12:55:56 AM
For all his personality flaws, the Nuge sticks to his guns. Even if you hate what he's about, you've gotta love that about him.

azmoviez [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 12:56:19 AM
I would love to debate the Nuge. I think his ideas and heart are in the right place, but his blind faith in the GOP is as dated as his last hit record.

Mordis 2008-09-19 12:58:02 AM
Hey man! Who wants to meet the Nuge? We got the Nuge over here!

Etchy333: That should get you on some sort of watch list.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I admitted this in public, other than going to home room the next morning and bragging about how awesome the Damn Yankees concert was. So I am coming clean 17 years later. And FARK is some kind of 12 step program, right? Shouldn't info shared here be privileged?

Three Crooked Squirrels [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 01:05:02 AM
By the way, is this really a 4 paragraph article about the Nuge sending her an advanced copy of his book? 'Cuz that's all I get from this article. I believe in succinct writing. Therefore, had I been assigned to this article, I would have wrote "Ted Nugent sends advanced copy of book to Sarah Palin. First run included 9 books, one for Palin, one for Nugent's own collection, and 7 for close friends."

GWLush [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 01:09:47 AM
Ted Nugent is as trendy as lawn darts.

Yes he sticks to his guns. That is the only reason he is a staunch Republican.

Hobodeluxe [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 01:17:22 AM
I too have been to a Damn Yankees concert. Tommy Shaw was awesome.
Blades also. Ted was Ted. He said he was the nice police. If the band got too sweet and nice he was there to rock them back up (right)

It was pretty cool though. it was like going to a Night Ranger,Styx,Nugent and Damn Yankees concert as they played songs from each of their other careers too.

there's a face in the mirror, and you close your eyes.
Much easier to turn away. Than to take a look inside.

thatvoiceguy 2008-09-19 01:22:33 AM
Ah, yes, Ted Nugent. Way to dodge that draft there, patriot.

Shadowknight [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-09-19 01:23:24 AM
Ted can play one hell of a guitar solo. He is also a great hunter, and I would even consider him an expert in the field of natural resource conservation and control. Hell, I'd even consider the man for a position advising or running the DNR, as he knows that much about the subject.

But some of his social issues? He's a hick from the Michigan sticks (styx?), and it reflects in some of his values. I am pretty sure he supports gay rights, but I may be confusing him with someone else.

Had the un-pleasure of doing two concerts with him. One of the top 10 list for people I would rather gouge out my eyes with burning sticks than to have to work with again.

I'm going to boil this down in my own Tedfurnace and see what's what before I jump to conclusions about...

f*ck it I just wanted to say Tedfurnace. I don't know how to finish that.

Aeonic_Blue 2008-09-19 03:45:50 AM
In a press release, Nugent describes the book as "Brutal honesty and irrefutable evidence that the amazing quality American Dream that is my life is available to anyone willing to fight for rugged individualism and genuine independence by putting their heart and soul into being the very best that they can be, even when it is difficult and trying."

Oh lord, if this ain't the biggest load of horseshiat I seen spit out in a damn long while, it is close.

Ted Nugent can go and eat a whole big goddamn bowl of bricks. When that useless choad of a human being dies, I do believe I may just journey to his grave, that I may piss upon the ground in which he lies just for good measure.

Yeah. So what. Another sack of meat endorsement a sack of doorknobs. That's the republican ticket, all right.

"Vote for me, I'm far stupider than you can imagine."

"and, I've got electrolytes!"

lexshine [TotalFark] 2008-09-19 03:57:15 AM
Ted Nugent represents everything that is wrong with this country planet universe.

The only time he supports gay rights is in a Michigan public restroom. He allows them the reach-around only with the right hand. Some people are particular. Go figure.

The book comprises 16 chapters of the Motor City Madman's views on "how to fix America."

This should be great. "Chapter 13: America, it's time to rock out with your c*ck out for your country"

Yep. As long as logic, reason, and debate have no bearing on your beliefs, you should be considered a great person.

/I do like that he eats what he kills though. Better than some vanity hunter doing it for antlers or something.
//Still think he's a farking idjit.

cryptozoophiliac 2008-09-19 04:18:23 AM
The Nuge embodies a sizable portion of the American psyche in the modern era: dedicated, kind at heart and possessing a dangerous level of certainty that he is right about everything and that those who disagree are pantywaists.

Want to know how we got where we are today? Look to the Nuge.

Sticking to one's gun is not enough for me to appreciate a man. I need to consider WHAT he's sticking to his gun's for.

If a man really loves his guns, sometimes they'll get a little... sticky. It's not that complicated.

/okay, from a psychiatric point of view, maybe it's a little complicated

xnecron 2008-09-19 04:52:09 AM
Thanks for that bit of info, thatvoiceguy. The last tiny bit of respect I had for The Nuge is gone.

It's pretty easy to be a gun-totin' redneck son of a biatch when you're safe in the country other people have bled and died for.

But if you don't ante up and kick in when the chips are down, you don't have any right to Nugent's pretenses.

Straight To Hell 2008-09-19 04:56:32 AM
Do Republicans seriously support Palin as a VP?

I will grant you that she's maybe an exciting pick, as a woman, and somewhat hot, yada yada.

But seriously, the thought of her as President is f*cking ridiculous. Do Republicans seriously look at her and think, "Yeah, I'd like that to be running the country"?

I know, personally, 8 or 10 people that I hate, that I'd rather have in charge of the country than Palin. In fact, if Obama was to lose the election, I'd rather have almost anyone from the GOP, save maybe Brownback, Tancredo and Huckabee, as VP for McCain. It's genuinely disturbing that anyone looks at Palin and sees a possible President.

You've just got to have insane blinders on if you look at Palin and see someone you'd like to have in the Oval Office. Then again, I guess the Nuge isn't known for his political intelligence (outside of Hicksville, MI, anyway)

Ablejack 2008-09-19 05:00:44 AM
What do you think of the Nugent Manifesto?

In what respect? Charlie

Straight from the manifesto:

That Nadine, what a teenage queen
She lookin' so clean, especi'lly down in between; what I like
She come to town; she be foolin' around
a puttin' me down as a rock-and-roll clown
She's so sweet when she yanks on my meat
Down on the street you know she can't be beat
What the hell

This and That.

I don't think Damon's comments were an insult. (He's not but) he could be a staunch Republican, make the same comments and it would fit. She's cute and fun, but, yeah, the pick is absurd. That's not hate; she is just not qualified.

Ablejack 2008-09-19 05:16:49 AM
From the link thatvoiceguy provided. That's terrible, Ted.

"Anybody that doesn't think it is better to blow someone's brains out than to be raped, deserves to be raped! If you don't think your life is worth it then please go out there, don't wear any underpants and get RAPED!! Cuz you deserve it..." (WRIF-FM, Detroit, Nugent as guest D.J., September 23, 1991).

Hah, maybe. But I prefer to think of her as a Frankenstein of all the worst GOP candidates. Take Brownback's insane religiosity, mix with the Huckster's creationism and ignorance of foreign policy, Tancredo's cluelessness on tax issues, Giuliani's chest-thumping stupidity on international relations, add a healthy portion of total f*cking ignorance on everything going on in the lower 48, and voila! You have Palin!

She's honestly the worst VP candidate I've ever seen, and it honestly baffles me that more people don't laugh at McCain's choice.

Wrong on this one?

I might be. I'm always open to the possibility that I'm wrong. But on Palin? I don't think so.

I'd sh*t my pants if Palin was CiC. And unlike McOld, that's not a daily occurrence for me .

So far, since her nod, the American public has seen very little of her. She does her semi-regular appearances, but what info can we glean from those appearances? Hardly anything. She's never off-script. I've yet to see a single intelligent insight from her on foreign policy, taxes, the war on terror (or whatever Rovian alias it's going by these days), or anything of substance.

She flubbed her totally softball interview with Gibson. For her sake, she'd better be a quick learner, because she's obviously got a lot of rote memorization to do before McCain feels like she's ready to meet the press. Of course, Biden met the press, on Meet the Press, only days after he got the nod.

So, yeah, my assumptions might be incorrect. But I don't think I'm underestimating Palin. I think I'd be underestimating the average American voter, if anything.
