Headlines like that remind me why I still bother with Fark.

Hank Jr. is the slice of bland bun bread between Hank Sr and Hank III, the two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions.

Says me, see.

You spelled that wrong. It's "Bo3phus"

Hank Jr. had some good songs pre- all my rowdy friends are coming over tonight. Not to take anything away from "Don't give us a reason."

theflatline 2008-09-18 01:43:42 PM
Don't hate on Jr. He has had some pretty good tunes, and in is own right a fantastic musician. Does some great outlaw country.

He never tried to be his dad. Unlike the 3 trying to be Grandad.

Different generations of musical outlaws.

I do not think anyone where could of had a better rock-n-roll lifestyle than junior.

donnyd 2008-09-18 02:08:25 PM
Is it true that Jr. always wears sunglasses because he had some horrible accident that disfigured his face? I seem to remember hearing he fell off a cliff or something.

theflatline: He never tried to be his dad.

He did in the 60's when he first started out, or Nashville tried to make him that. Just like they did later with Hank III.

Hank the III only gets respect cause he looks like Sr.

Took me three reads to get the headline..

.. then I LOL'd.

Well done subby.

Have you seen how he closes his shows?
I'm not sure what Grandad would make of those Assjack sets...

Beautiful headline, Subby. I think BMIs are kind of meaningless - mine says that I'm overweight (5'7", 173 lbs.) which is just stupid. I have a 30" waist and nearly everyone who knows me (even the skinny people) guess that I weigh about 150 lbs. I'm actually heavier than I appear because of my enormous head. The one between my shoulders.

yes donnyd.....he was hiking/hunting somewhere and fell down a cliff/mountain about 500'....Luckily he was able break the fall, though it was mostly with his face. Glasses and beard hide most of the damage

Hank III played a Hank Williams tribute show with Hank Jr at the Opry a couple of years ago, and he floored the place.

Hank III wore a long sleeved shirt to cover up his metal tats. Funny.

I met Hank Jr. a couple of years ago. He was a nice guy, IMHO. He shook my hand and gave me his autograph. He's actually a lot thinner than he looks on TV.

He rips off his grand dad's style and even his "good" country songs are more of a, "I do lot's of drugs so that makes me "real" country." Whereas Sr. was an alcoholic and wrote songs about the truth in relationships. In a sense Hank the III is reinforcing the negative image of Sr. If Sr. wanted to be known for boozing and farking up he would have written songs about it. Jr. and III chose to make their grand dads legacy one of dependency by writing all those "real country is about getting high" songs. It amazes me that is how they hold Sr. up. Sure they talk him up in other ways, and are proud of their heritage, as I would be too, but listen to their songs and they seem to miss Hank Sr's mark. That and when Hank the III goes metal he sucks balls. This is why I say he get respect because he looks like Sr. My 2 cents.

No, Hank Jr's mom was the mom who did that. She'd even dress him up like his father. When he got older is when he started to rebel.

He fell when he was mountain climbing in Montana sometime in the 70s, and I want to say 1976 or so.

Yes. "Play your daddy's songs Hank! Play Cold Cold Heart!"

All this history is covered admirably in "Living Proof" starring John Boy Walton as Bocephus.

I had the misfortune of attending a Hank Jr. concert some years ago, and to this day, it remains the single worst concert I have ever been to in my life.

The sound system was awful. He was so drunk he slurred every line of every song, and 50 minutes after it started, it finally ended which was about 48 minutes too late. Even during the acoustic "A Country Boy Can Survive" he kept mumbling incoherent nonsense between each verse. He had some long haired guitar player who looked like he showed up at the wrong concert and kept playing metal leads on country tunes.

Truly awful.

Rev. Skarekroe: Meanwhile, Hank III is still rail thin!

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

/huge Hank I and III fan. II, not so much.
//broke my foot at a Hank III show
///got kicked out of the Hank III show after that, for being too drunk

If you don't like Hank Williams you can kiss my butt.

This begs a practical question:

Who's gotten more mileage out of a dead father, Bocephus, Roger Waters, or Natalie Cole?

Cheers!

Hank Sr. is the only one of the three with any real talent.
