Ooh, is this the thread where we all get to say stuff like "Sniff, people still collect CDs? How quaint!" and "It's not stealing because it's sharing and besides it's not a physical product therefore they don't lose any money and all music sucks since I turned 23 so it's ok that I haven't paid a dime for any of it in 10 years" and "Cliff Burton was the REAL talent in Metallica" and "Guinness? You might as well be drinking toilet water! Real men drink Smithjohn's Imperial Darknose Stout" and "Starbuck's coffee costs too much and tastes burnt!"

Did I miss any?

Great headline! I just emailed it to three Metallica fans that aren't Farkers.

/Why anyone isn't a Farker is beyond me.

People still collect CDs? How so 90's! I don't understand why, as it is not stealing because it's sharing and besides it's not a physical product therefore they don't lose any money. This generation and all its music sucks, especially since I turned 22, therefore it's ok that I haven't paid a dime for any of it in 10 years. What really grinds my gears is that Metallica sucks without Cliff Burton, as he was the REAL talent in Metallica. Its so bad that it might make drink Guinness, to which you might as well be drinking toilet water. I prefer to drink Smithjohn's Imperial Darknose Stout. You bums stick to Starbucks coffee, as it costs too much and tastes burnt!

Big suprise. Though it is still pretty impressive that with half the window of normal first-week sales they still pulled off 490k sales and a No.1 spot.

People still collect wax cylinders? How so 20's! I don't understand why, as it is not fornication because I used a condom and besides it's not a mental relationship therefore she doesn't get paid any money. This generation and all its blogging sucks, especially since I turned 96, therefore it's ok that I haven't paid a dime for adult diapers in 10 months-- I just reuse the old one. What really kisses my caboose is that The Beatles sucks without Milli Vanilli, as he was the REAL talent in The Monkeys. Its so bad that it might make drink toilet water, to which you might as well be drinking Guinness. I prefer to drink John Smiths's Imperial Darknose Snot. You homeless people stick to tap water, as it's much cheaper and tastes lumpy!

/Yes, there is other things I should be doing.

People still collect Coffee? How so CD! I don't understand why, as it is not burnt because it's roasted and besides it's not a musical product therefore they don't lose any money. This generation and all its Guinness sucks, especially since I turned 21, therefore it's ok that I haven't paid a dime for any of it in 10 years. What really grinds my gears is that Cliff Burton sucks without Metallica, as they was the REAL talent in Cliff Burton's ass. Its so bad that it might make me drink magnetic; you might as well be drinking death. I prefer to listen to Angela Gossow's sweet, sweet tits. You bums stick to Metallica, as it costs too much and tastes like chicken.

Люди все еще собирают CDs? Как так 90' s! I don' t понимает почему, по мере того как он не крадет потому что it' s и кроме it' s не физический продукт поэтому они don' t теряет любые деньги.

I take that back ... I'm disappointed in the under-mixing of the bass. Trujillo's the best bassest in metal & was hosed here.

They need to remix this album.....it makes my ears bleed and I can't hear any of the bass parts (big surprise). I can still hear Lars banging on his snare like a monkey. That said, this is a step in the right direction for Metallica.

phlegmography 2008-09-17 11:51:05 AM
I never realized that Metallica had enough money to buy all 490K copies themselves. Kudos to them, I suppose.

GurneyHalleck [TotalFark] 2008-09-17 11:53:02 AM
Rev. Skarekroe: "Cliff Burton was the REAL talent in Metallica"

Actually, Dave Mustaine was the real talent, then when he left, it was Cliff, and then when he left it was Bob Rock and then when Rock ran out of ideas, they started to suck and then the Napster thing happened and now I don't care if they wrote the greatest metal album of all time, they're not getting anything from me but my scorn.

SUPPORT LOCAL MUSIC!

Pirated it.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Probably going to go out and buy it, I think it's worth my $15 to support something good coming out in this day. Not much does, so I try to support what I can when I can.

It's selling for $9.99 at all the major retailers, so a bargain at that.

There's bassists in Metal that actually get mixed in?

Last I heard it was common practice to just phase them out in the mix.

Or hell, not even bother recording them really...

Megadeth sucks, Dave squeals like a pig, he solos practically the whole song, and his lyrics are 8th grade politics. Feh, keep your B-grade Metallica.

I noticed it sounded funny on my speakers. However, sounds amazingly better when compressed and played on my iPod. Go figure.

Hated the first song. Rock Rap, meh. Liked the rest. Went to buy at hot topic, they were out. Had a sale for the shirts and CD's for five bucks. Sold out first day. Wonder if that is how they got the top spot. Dirt cheap. Makes sense. Got Tool 10,000 days and had to pay 19 bucks. Reminded me why I don't buy many albums.

Bought two Metallica tickets for the concert in November same day. around 180.00 with parking. Fark ticket master.

Torrented the album. Will buy as soon as I find a place that has it. (don't get out much). Does need a lot more bass. It is not nearly dark and heavy enough. Could be the torrent. Will see when I get the real deal in a couple of days. Contrary to popular belief, I torrent and then get the album if it doesn't suck. That is how I got into Disturbed, Evanescence, Tool and tons others. It is also how I get graphic novels and end up buying the real deal.CBR FTW. Torrent is a great marketing tool that isn't ran by tools. LOL

Starbucks tastes like burnt ass and believe me, I know ass.

I've been on the Metallica blows bandwagon for years. Then again, the black album came out when I was in 7th grade.

From what I've heard, this isn't a total return to form, but more of how I would've expected Metallica to evolve all those years ago, instead of diverging into shiat territory.

Not fantastic, but not awful, better than anything they've put out since the black album, but the mixing needs work.

Still not buying it because frankly, I'm over metal.

That's what I've been telling people about the new album: it's a natural follow-up to ...And Justice For All, it's where they should've gone instead of the Black Album

Really though, I can only say that in hindsight.

I love the new album, and hate Starbucks coffee (currently drinking Tim Hortons)

You're welcome.
When I saw that there were zero posts in here I figured there would be a good chance that if I got snarky about the nonsense I'd been seeing in the previous Death Magnetic threads I could maybe get people talking about the actual album.

Which, for the record, I like. This should have been what happened after the Black Album - a return to form after an experiment in mass appeal. That said, much of the lyrical content ain't so great - THIS I SWEAR!!!
