I don't get it. Why did he say the pricing is wrong? People are getting 6 songs for $3.99, and one of those songs is over 21 minutes long. A pretty good deal. Is he ranting that the price should be higher? Greedy bastige.

I got the sense he meant to sell it for less.

Also, I believe all of the (Mix 13) songs are for charity, either way, so it's not greed.

where does it say 6 songs for $3.99? I saw "£7.99 for the EP" and to me that is a lot
/unless it's for charity
//maybe he means more people will buy it if the price is lower?

Hopefully the situation will be rectified so that the record company will accept packages of biscuits, small soapstone carvings of hippos, and pieces of burnt toast that bear the image of Mussolini in lieu of actual money.

All profits go to charity.

Going by what Weird Al once wrote, Apple takes 35% off the top.

So presumably, Smith is pissed that Apple will be profiting so much (in total; obviously percentage-wise nothing would change) and he wanted it to be about encouraging more fans to buy it with a low price as an enticing factor, not a jacked-up price.

I always hated Robert Smith, but he's got a right to complain here.

Also there's nothing about $3.99 anywhere, I don't know where you got that, but I know the singles released on the 13th of every month were $1.99 on Amazon for the US markets.

don't worry Robert, not only will I not buy it, I won't listen to it either. In fact, me thinks I'll just ignore it altogether.

I love this comment from TFA:

"While I am a fan of miserablists with ozone-depleting grooming habits, I have to side with the other commenters. You can fark right off with your Fall Out Boy remixes."

THIS

Kids today with their Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco emo crap. Back in my day, the whiny, pasty-faced, mascara wearing sensitive outsider frontmen knew how to do it right.

My lawn, off of it.

C'mon subby! Picking on Robert Smith is like picking on the retarded kid that lives down your street. You can use all your A material, but there really is no satisfaction in it. Or kind of like banging the neighbourhood slut behind the local grocery store, you don't have to work too hard to do it and then you wonder why you're doing it in the first place.

You dig man?

Besides the guy writes great songs.

The EP is being sold in the US for $3.99 and in the UK for £7.99.

Serously?
That's what the whole point of the farking article was, that the price is wrong.

Why doesn't Metallica have this kind of anger over the production abortion that took place on Death Magnetic. BRICKWALL LIMITING RUINED IT. WRITING THIS IN ALL CAPS CAUSE ITS LOUDER AND I HEARD THAT LOUDER IS BETTER AND THE CUSTOMER WANTS THEIR MUSIC LOUD AND DISTORTED AND RUINED.

spellacopter 2008-09-16 08:02:05 PM
Great. First he lets "korn" (what a dumb name) work on his album, and now this crap? Maybe they really should have stopped long ago..
sigh.

Stupid NME glosses of the biggest problem with this fiasco.
The major issue Mr. Smith has with all this, besides the album being £7.99 ($14.25 US) on iTunes UK, there's also the problem of the last track, 'Exploding Head Syndrome', the 21-minute megamix by 65daysofstatic, is not available for individual download like the other tracks. Most fans seem to agree that this is by far the best track on the EP. As well, 65's alternate remix of 'The Only One', is *not* included, as it was supposed to have been.

Still no Cure for depression. However, in other news, there is depression for The Cure.

'Exploding Head Syndrome' mix available free from Pitchfork.
More remixes here.

Now there's a website waiting to happen! And all you'd have to do is rattle your car keys and the kid would be all in and mesmerised.

Damn straight, and they know it. That's why they have been including "A Hundred Years" in all of their live shows since that godawful album "Wild Mood Swings".

Of course, I listen to "The Top" more than any other Cure album. I never liked "Disintegration", but I love "Wish" (sans 'Friday I'm in Love' and 'High'). Go figure

I got it. Although I thought it was "Disintegration was your greatest album". Too lazy to look it up, anyway.

/Head on the Door guy myself, but Disintegration is just a notch behind.
