Typical.

The more they can engage the voters in paying attention to this crap the less time they have to spend explaining how they're not talking about anything of any importance to the voters.

The funny thing is, what do these e-mails really mean? I get a bunch of e-mails from the Obama campaign. They're well-written, they set records straight, and get me pissed off at McCain. But the other day, all I could think was, "this is nice and all, but they're preaching to the choir." My mom isn't reading this -- and wouldn't believe it if she did. [She's all Republican, thinks Palin can do no wrong [and shushes me when I point out things like charging for the rape kits -- you know, if you don't talk about it, it didn't happen.]

At the same time, I'm not getting/reading McCain e-mails.

Nothing McCain says, short of "pixie, you personally will be a millionaire and everything that sucks in your life will be fixed if you vote for me" would change my mind on him. And nothing Obama says, short of "pixie's mom, you personally will be a millionaire and everything that sucks in your life will be fixed if you vote for me" would change my mom's mind on Obama.

We've agreed to not discuss politics anymore, not since her final word of "vote for the socialist all you want, my vote cancels yours."

At this point, I refuse to believe there are any "undecided voters" or any voters who are going to change their minds. We're dealing with two candidates who could not be different. Anyone who claims to be confused/unsure at this point is either a liar and an idiot.

I think they're lying attention whores.

Nobody is going to make the news for supporting one or the other, but the "undecided" get coverage, get interviewed, and feel "important."

Because, really, what is keeping someone from choosing between one and the other?

I can understand the primaries, where you have similar candidates who have different views on a couple of issues... that's a tougher decision. I went into this election season thinking I'd vote for Kucinich, honestly, but Obama won me over by a LOT. I get people being unsure about say, Hillary vs Obama. But Obama and McCain? Come on.... there are very few shades of anything remotely grey here.

My Mother and Father called me today... lifelong moderate Republicans.... both are voting for Obama. They changed their minds this week.... tired of the lies, tired of what the Republican Party has become. What is even funnier is I had nothing to do with changing their minds.

If onlt the Republican Farkers could understand that they are pretty much the driving force behind people leaving the party. Every time one of them opens his mouth to defend the indefensible people take a step to the left to get away from the stench.

That makes me happy and proud on some level.

My parents get their news from Fox and opinion from Rush. When I tell my mom so and so said this or that, she'll say "sure, the Internet told you that." Even if I say, "I watched a video of it," for older Republicans [my mom is mid-60s, my dad is early 70s], the Internet is nothing but lies and dirty liberals... I guess the conservative talking heads say that? Not sure....

Though I give her this... when there was talk about Biden's "gaffe" when he tried to make the guy in the wheelchair stand up, my mother said, "oh give me a break... how many people does the man meet in a day, or a week? He's supposed to keep track of every single thing?"

It was as close as I have ever heard her come to defending a Democrat. ^_^

That's it. The End.

She's still fkn lying(p)

CARSON CITY, Nev. - Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin made her first solo campaign appearance outside her home state Saturday, sticking largely to a speech that has boosted her popularity among Republican faithful but drawn criticism for having misstatements.

The Alaska governor repeated her claim to have killed the now-famous "Bridge to Nowhere," which her running mate, John McCain, has derided as wasteful pork. Palin first approved of the project, and turned against it only after it proved to be a political embarrassment.

It seems that the McCain camp is claiming that any examination or questioning of Palin or her record is an attack in Palin. Perhaps McCain would like to re-establish the Alien and Sedition Acts?

For Sarah Palin.....

You think that you're such a smart girl
And I'll believe what you say
But who do you think you are girl
To lead me on this way, hey
Lies, lies
I can't believe a word you say
Lies, lies
I'm gonna make you sad someday
Someday you're gonna be lonely
But you won't find me around
Lies, breakin' my heart
Someday I'm gonna be happy
But I don't know when just now
Lies, breakin' my heart
You think that you're such a smart girl
And I'll believe what you say
But who do you think you are girl
To lead me on this way, hey
Lies, lies
I can't believe a word you say
Lies, lies
I'm gonna make you sad someday
Someday you're gonna be lonely
But you won't find me around
Lies, breakin' my heart
Breakin' my heart

Breakin' my heart

You can't expect a major political party to simply abandon a run at the presidency.

You can expect them to take the best action they can to make the best case for their victory.

What do you see both campaigns doing?

Does your neighbor see the same thing?

The republican party gets away with lying because they are expected to lie. Obama's job is to remind Americans that dishonesty has ill served our national interests for 8 years, despite how comforting those lies are.

torch: they're not talking about anything of any importance to the voters.

Maybe not, but they endlessly talk about things of interest to the voters. The media is now more than ever driven by a 'for profit' model; they are in the business of "informing" and capturing the interest of the biggest, most profitable demographic and so show and give time to those things which the market demands.

In this case that appears to be stories of "gotcha" moments, the destructive framing of politics as some kind of Jerry Springeresque pseudo-drama, and all the other vapid and pointless BS that passes for "The News" these days.

/QED: Profit?

If their source is not known, then it is irresponsible to attribute them to anyone. The idea behind responsible journalism is that the media should not be so hard-up to burn McCain that they go with a story ASAP, without sourcing it.

How is this news? McCain has relied heavily on lies for most of his campaign.

The sad thing is that it's eaten up by the idiots who support him.

There are idiots on both sides, of course, but it's remarkable the ratio of adults/children that make up his supporters. These people don't care about the truth, they want to mindlessly believe the misinformation they are fed.
