It's not like Chicago (or any other city) has more important things to be spending money on I guess

I assume this is also related to the Olympics. I live in Chi-town and I am all for this. No real expense to the city and potential income...sounds good to me.

My sentiments exactly. It seems strangeguitar had nothing worthwhile to say, so he posted a picture of a skank with a name similar to 'ferris'.

Even amongst those whose tastes would appear run to the low end, this young lady seems to be a bit nasty. Does her mother know that she's posing provocatively with rotted fruit on the interweb?

Well... after RTFA.

They are "hoping that someone will self-finance it".... meaning they want it to be the "TacoBell Wheel of Chicago Sponsored by Verizon" or some such other capitalistic endeavour.

my bad

The Columbian Exposition of 1893 is a hobby of mine. I have a lot of neat collectibles from that fair. My prize is one of the original 36 model cars that Ferris used to demonstrate his wheel to investors.

/so I'm getting a kick out of these replies?

BigDumbGuy: Is there something wrong with the current one?

Yes. It is too small, it should be the same size as the Ferris Wheel in the 1893 World Columbian Exposition.

As a Chicago resident I'm usually opposed to everything the city does, but in this case they want to finance it privately so I really don't care.

I'm pretty sure that's a normal banana that happens to be dipped in chocolate, rather than rotten.

I am MUCH more impressed by the original wheel in 1893 that held 2,160 people.

You shouldn't concentrate too much on the banana. The young lady (and I use that term out of convention when speaking of females between 18 to 25 and not her social status per se) is a skank who is not particularly alluring.

Slim does does not equal attractive. Not only are her knees sharp, the outline of her breasts, even in whipped creme, is small.

Taken in 2003 while stopped at the very top of the ferris wheel in Ocean City, MD

Not that big of a ferris wheel but having them stop us at the very top for a good min was cool.

They already have priceless works of art, baseball, pancreas . . .

Besides, the question isn't what kind of Ferris wheel are they going to build. It's what kind they aren't going to build.

...the key word.

Knowing Govt... instead of "financed by the private sector" it will be "financed by the public sector with benefits going to the private sector" - (which will be friends of the Chicago politicians).

Unless they say it WILL be privately financed... dont think for a minute that they wont seize the chance to be a power and money broker.

Ocean City, MD becomes a ghost town in the winter as well but that still doesn't mean they don't have a great town to visit during the warm months.

In the winter they don't run the ride. It's that simple.
