The reporter found out about us because you Farkers emailed the newspaper about Brett's story. This was done because you cared enough about this little boy to help him. Thank you so much.

Also, we have raised about $30,000...in a week...thanks to Fark. Thank you so very much.

Joe

I mean we did make Wil the best dressed of the year with his clown sweater. :)

Glad we could do something useful for a change.

Joe,

Submitter to the Tuscaloosa News here. I originally emailed Ben Windham about his interest in it, and he passed it along to Stephanie Taylor "with a bullet." She and I traded emails the other day and she confirmed two things:

1) she was going to write the story
2) she is a Farker! I don't her handle, but the reporter for this story hangs out on Fark. Maybe she'll come forward.

I've also contacted the campus paper, the Crimson White, about this, and spoke with their director and assistant director (both friends of mine). Hopefully we'll generate some more news.

If anyone wants to help get this in the news, I would suggest starting with the New York Times, which happens to own the Tuscaloosa News and has used stories from it in the past. Imagine getting into the New York Times!

Joe, my wife and I cried the other day talking about the story, and we're making another contribution today. Keep up the faith, man. Roll Tide!

The best thing farkers can do now is to keep spreading their story around the net and keep contacting the newsmedia. Let's get this done for this fellow farker.

/All the best and all the love from my little family

Wow, this is great! I'm so proud to be a farker. I really hope you can raise enough money for this treatment.

SwallowTheKnife 2008-09-13 05:48:55 PM
Best of luck to the entire family.

I'm glad I got here before the naysaying trolls got around. Absolutely no class whatsoever.

It's disgusting to realize what kind of sick society we live in when the richest country in the world is indifferent to the suffering of its most helpless citizens unless there's money involved. Government should set up a fund for cases like this.

I sincerely hope you'll be able to raise enough money. I'll be sure to send a few bucks your way.

NeverDrunk23 2008-09-13 05:52:01 PM
Wait.......Fark did something.....GOOD? Is that possible?

Well, I hope you and your son the best of luck. I'm sure everything will turn out fine.

You'll be getting my donation next week via snail mail. I just don't trust PayPal.

Good luck and good job to all of the other Farkers who donated.
