Sounds like he had a good time in jail.

OH NOES, HE WAS TRYING TO BRIBE THEM!

TFA: The delivery person specified the pies were compliments of the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" star, Strickland said.

Are we talking about pies or pizzas here? I'm confused.

pizza pies

jake_lex [TotalFark] 2008-09-13 01:06:14 PM
Here's the thing: if he'd been in that airport getting shiatface drunk, no big deal. He has a little weed, he goes to farking jail.

Marijuana should be legalized. Immediately.

PC LOAD LETTER [TotalFark] 2008-09-13 01:18:24 PM
He should have sent them tater salad instead.

Godscrack [TotalFark] 2008-09-13 01:35:16 PM
Tossed salad in jail. Pizza when you're released.

I can't imagine the rationalization the douchebag that dimed him out went through. It's a hell of a thing when a man can't smoke dope on his own private charter any more.

TexasPeace [TotalFark] 2008-09-13 01:59:56 PM
That wasn't oregano on the pizzas.

TexasPeace [TotalFark] 2008-09-13 02:01:02 PM
Did they have a warrant?

Is there some law that allows search of any private airplane anytime?

jonasborg: pizza pies

About 10 minutes before you posted that I came in here, saw the post above yours and considered posting that verbatim, no capitals or punctuation. Then I just said, f*ck it and moved on.

Basically, the war on terror and the war on drugs legislation let cops bypass our usual constitutional protections. If an officer even THINKS you might be doing something uncool, expect to get searched. sometimes they're nice about it. sometimes they aren't. But if they want to search you, they can pretty much search you anywhere at any time.

It's got nothing to do with the war on terror. The precedent case for this kind of search is 25 years old--long before anyone ever heard of Al Qaeda...

And no--they still can't just "search you anywhere at any time."

/is sure the cops had a warrant waiting for him...

sure they can. And they do. Any time they want, they just search away!

Not like the supreme court is going to restore our 4th amendment rights. wire taps, searches, restrictions on travel....and to think - we like to think we're 'free'.

FTFA:

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - After posting bail on misdemeanor drug charges Wednesday, comedian Ron White said he tried to have two pizza deliveries made: one for the Indian River County Jail and the other for the Vero Beach Police Department.

"It's not very often something like this happens," sheriff's Lt. Selby Strickland said about someone sending food to the jail after being processed.

Agreed, also unfortunatley I've been to jail...I assure you I've thought of giving the police many things, some delicious pies however are not on that list.

And who is Morrison? The article never says.

That would be a gratuity," Morrison said. And it's against policy, he added.

He was the grand marshal at the Busch race at Talladega a couple of years ago. He came into the press center with the attitude of "I'm here, notice me." Problem was, Will Ferrell had just left the media center about five minutes before that. In a room full of reporters, nobody--and I mean NOBODY--went over to get some quotes or otherwise pay attention to him.

It has nothing to do with the patriot act and everything to do with probable cause.

So I guess those pilots are farked for the rest of their careers.

Here's a hint... when you're working for a comedy star who has more money than you could ever dream of, it's best not to snitch on him, unless he's murdered someone.

Dairy King 2008-09-13 03:56:09 PM

Vero Beach Police took White into custody Wednesday when his jet arrived at the Vero Beach Municipal Airport. Officers met White based on a tip from a confidential informant saying White would have drugs on him.

Seriously- using CI's for this shiat is STUPID

srtpointman 2008-09-13 03:58:24 PM
If the cops get a tip they have to follow up on it. Chances are some douchenozzle called and said that he had tons of pot on his plane. They contacted him, asked for permission to search, he obliged and they found what they found. Some of you always want to blame the police when in the end it's the lawmakers who decide what laws are what. The cops show up, make the arrest and pass it on to the DA. The DA decides if charges are warranted. The funniest thing is that some of you are more pissed about this than Ron White is. And yes, I think they should legalize it. But right now it's still illegal. And as such expect to be arrested if you're stupid enough to be caught with it.

roryman 2008-09-13 04:00:01 PM
O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.

jake_lex: Here's the thing: if he'd been in that airport getting shiatface drunk, no big deal. He has a little weed, he goes to farking jail.

And how sad a life the "informant" must have, that they feel the need to call the police ahead of him to have him trapped as he leaves the plane?
Maybe he just pissed someone off.

Hollerin Charlie 2008-09-13 04:00:53 PM
Pizza for the cops! Damn, that's just classy. Getting baked on private flights is an excellent way to treat anxiety before or after a show, but it can be pretty annoying to the pilot cause they have to stay sober. Ron, buddy, that's a pressurized environment and someone's got to stay straight enough to land the plane. If you find a vaporizer (smokeless bong like in Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay) too conspicuous to be carrying it around, might I suggest grinding the bud up real good, packing it in vitamin capsules, and take your vitamins when you get on the plane. Wash her down with a few whiskey sours and then you just look like a really happy drunk instead of a degenerate stoner.
/Good to see he has a good sense of humor about this

so you're saying that the police weren't tipped off? next thing you know, you'll be stating that a 911 call about a house fire isn't probable cause for firefighters to enter a property and put out a fire
