It's a cool photo, even if of gymnastics (and I'll freely admit I couldn't do that stunt).

My paper this morning showed a photo of houses being destroyed by the HIDE TIDE preceding the main part of Ike, houses are clearly flooded for blocks and one is on fire. Yow.

The fire at first surprised me but then thinking about it, huge waves slamming in the house must be similar to an earthquake, and houses flame up from earthquakes on a regular basis as stuff tips over, gas lines break, the pilot light hits something, etc.

Article mentioned they had people wandering the street swimming in the water trying to leave, the last round up of the authorities was taking some of them out but that's IT until this is all over.

I don't think that anyone for a second is thinking that the wind is lifting him (at least I hope not). As for the actual 'stunt', there is no indication that he is holding that position, the picture is probably snapped at just the right time of him 'jumping'.

Actually, I did exactly that. NO BS.

It was many years ago when a hurricane actually hit Connecticut.
I think back around '84 give or take a year.
I was 16, not too heavy
and I ended up hanging on a telephone pole.

I don't know why I went out, I was excited by the storm
and I was just curious as to what it was like.

Anyways, I got quite lucky shortly after that.
I decided to go to a top of a large hill,
with a normally busy street and intersection. (no cars on the road)
I wanted to see what the shopping mall area down below looked like in the bad weather.

And just after I got over the hill in the middle of the street. (yeah, dumb)
A sheet of metal was blown my way and moving fast.
It was hovering just above the street surface being supported by the winds.

I jumped over it just in time, it went right under me and kept going.
I was lucky, that thing could have sliced my feet off right at the ankles.

Darwin hasn't collect his award on my yet,
but he got pretty close to it in my teen years.
