If that were to happen, other countries would mix it up and we'd live som interesting times, and this would me more likely how the world would turn into, especially if the economic system breaks down as it is going:

1.- The Americas: North America will return to a wild-west state. City states will be largerly predominant, with a few barter towns here and there. Any town near a river or any natural resource will be quite lucky. But, there will be nomadic groups of former gangs, paramilitary groups, ex-HOAS (I think they'll turn into a sort of cannibalistic zombie thing) and crazies will stalk the countryside, raiding defenseless travelers, towns and cities. Central and South America will turn into a fertile ground for all sorts of dictatorships that might try to invade north.

2.- Europe.- Russia will expand via military might, regaining its state as a powerhouse. France will be highly sought after as well as Italy and a few other countries due to fertile farmlands. Eastern Europe will be constantly in conflict via Saudi Arabian troops and ethnic issues.

3.- Africa.- There are two possibilities: Either it will be conquered by either the russians and the saudis, turning into a hotbed of conflict between the two; or, due to famine, the constant tribal conflict and disease it will be cleanced of human life, except for a few pockets of tribes that have maintained a healthy distance of the conflicted areas, in this case Africa might become a safe haven from the constant bickering of the other continents.

4.- Asia.- China will expand, swallowing the other nations and wiping out those that resist. Saudi Arabia and Iran will join forces and wipe out Israel, but not without the isaelies using their nukes as a last resort. Pakistan and India will aso wage war and the same will repeat. The Middle East will be a heavy Radiation Area, except for a few pockets where the most powerful warlords will live.

5.- Oceania.- There's a strong chance Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia and a few other oceanian countries remain as the last bastions of western civilization, mostly because they're so far away and few plenty of resources.

They can have it. We'll throw in Mississippi for free.
