Oh, and I'm sure she WILL. I just hope she has fun trying to explain some of it. Like why she charged the state almost 320 per diems for travel on days she was home.

I'm sure the shredder-noise currently emanating from Juneau has got to be near-deafening.

The per diem "scandal" has already been explained and she did nothing wrong. Try and keep up with which smears are on today's agenda and which ones have already been buried with the moose carcasses.

Actually, I'm sick and disgusted by the tactics of both parties, since they are basically the same. Even when they are supposedly discussing real issues, they don't say anything. The most disturbing part is that people on both sides keep repeating the same BS. The real problem in America is that the majority of people probably believe one side or the other when they preach this swill and that they think that one of these two idiots can actually "change" things.

/It's just more fun to pick on the Obamarons

then you haven't read a single policy statement from obama. he goes into immense detail. in fact, his campaign just released a book outlying a lot of his policy proposals. your failure to research is not their failure to provide the materials.

Well, at least we agree on something.

It's been said before, and it's likely true...If this campaign is about the issues, Obama takes it. But if McCain can somehow twist it to be about "values" (which we all know is really code for uptight, hypocritical fundie-candidate pseudo-morality legislation), then that's the only way he has a chance.

Smart people care about issues. Ignorant, easily-manipulated knee-jerk morons care about what they're told "values" are. Hence the blue/red divide.

It's much easier to assume both candidates are morons when you're a Fark Independent then, you know, actually read about their respective policies (or, in this case, McCain's lack thereof).

Obama's money came from writing books. McCain's comes from gold digging. Besides, according to McCain, Obama is middle class.

Question: are the Democrats trying to get Palin to release her tax returns, in the hope that skeletons come out of her closet?

I really want Obama to win, but not in a creepy cult way. For more information about creepy cult followings of presidential canidates please recall Bush in 2000.

But I can't want it too badly because I am so afraid that some ignorant bs is going to win the day, please recall the "lipstick" controversy.

I am 23 and all my adult life I've watched ignorant bs about values and character and wtf win, it is enough to make you want to stop caring.

And that changes what exactly? He's a rich bastard just like the other guy. Does it matter when he made it? It sounds like both are fairly out of touch with the average American, yet only 1 is constantly portrayed that way.

The_Six_Fingered_Man 2008-09-12 04:57:02 PM
So let me get this straight. John McCain's tax plan would lower the taxes on all individuals currently running for the Presidency/Vice-Presidency. Obama's tax plan would raise the taxes on himself and his running mate, as well as his opponent and running mate.

If McCain's Campaign were to put that out there, I wonder what the response would be.

What double standard? He was poor until he was rich by working for it. McCain married into richness by doing nothing.

I can see how that would make someone an elitist?

/PS they're both portrayed as rich. But working to become rich is hardly elitist.

Pretty sure now that Salvia's a troll. I don't think any reasonable person would dispute that Obama's had a far less privileged life than McCain.

Nevertheless, while it is endearing, it's completely inconsequential. I'll vote for Obama based on his policies and leadership, not how much he makes/made in a year.

If you honestly think that the country will be the same regardless of who is elected, even after seeing the last eight years, and you believe that your unwillingness to research proposed policies is evidence of the nonexistence of those policies, then good, don't vote. I'm honestly curious to see a study that compares campaign promises to actual laws passed once that person was in office. It would be interesting to see the correlation/differences between deadlock and complete control.

moralpanic 2008-09-12 05:23:39 PM
For 2007, Mr. Biden and his wife Jill paid taxes of $66,273 on an adjusted gross income of $319,853 in 2007. Their income included $71,000 in royalties, presumably from his book. They had $62,954 in deductions, including $995 in gifts to charities and $38,712 in interest payments. In addition, the Bidens earned very little interest: They reported $99 in interest and no dividends. The interest payments: $73 from the New Castle School Employees Credit Union, $13 from the U.S. Senate Federal Credit Union and $13 the from Wilmington Savings Fund Society.

LOL that's actually almost sad, that somebody who's been in such a powerful positioned that long, hasn't taken more advantage of it.

I doubt his hands are clean, being in politics as long as he has.

Simple fact is no one cares about Biden's tax papers because no one cares about Biden. He is a known quantity, and he's become the anchor of cruel political realities in an uplifting campaign that was supposed to be about hope and change.
The democratic parties old devils will demand their due, and his nomination to VP was proof of that.

Of course he's also becoming a liability.
If the Palin thing does not run its course in the next week or two, or the man can't prove his value, I wouldn't be surprised if Biden suddenly found himself in need of spending more time with the family.

Obama needs to recapture peoples imaginations and slandering your opponents hench-woman simply wont do anymore.
