hey subby, read the news much? more notably news from 2003?

Bush: No Iraq link to 9/11 found

President Bush, having repeatedly linked Saddam Hussein to the terrorist organization behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said yesterday there is no evidence that the deposed Iraqi leader had a hand in those attacks, in contrast to the belief of most Americans.

The president's comments came in response to a reporter's question about Vice President Dick Cheney's assertion Sunday on NBC's "Meet The Press" program that Iraq was the "geographic base" of the terrorists behind the attacks on New York and Washington.

Bush said yesterday there was no attempt by the administration to try to confuse people about any link between Saddam and Sept. 11.

"No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th," Bush said.

Umm, I'm no Palin fan, but her quoted statement seems to be more talking about fighting the evil nasty al-quaeda people who have since moved into Iraq post 'liberation'

She's got enough bad stuff to rail about without taking this sort of stuff out of context. Why set up your own straw man for the other side? It just makes you look bad when they knock it down.

ever heard of doublespeak?

maybe you should look at the news coming from his underlings around the same time. perhaps from senator mccain, who mentioned iraq in relation to 9/11. on 9/11. or look to the forged letter between the taliban and saddam hussein, which was requested by the white house. or the linking of iraq to the anthrax scares... admittedly, that isn't in relation to 9/11, but it was another fake link between saddam and terrorism from the white house.

yeah that was my first thought too when i heard the quote. it still annoys me though because it is an attempt to emotionally link iraq to 9/11 and espouses the "fight them there instead of here" world view, which i don't at all agree with.

so while it is not a "ZOMG SHE THINKS SADDAM BLOWED UP BUILDINGS" moment, it is a glimpse into her hard-line conservative view of iraq.

First Dubya and the Neo-cons tried to justify the war in Iraq as a war against those that attacked us on 9/11.

Finally even Dubya had to admit that Iraq and Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.

The war so destabilized Iraq it allowed in the very people we were trying to kill.

Now the war is justified as a war against those that attacked us on 9/11.

That's a very nice, succinct, summary. Unfortunately a surprisingly large number of Americans actually think those are the good qualifications.

Its no use, the idea that Bush said al-Qaeda and Iraq teamed up for 9/11 is entrenched in the left-wing mythology. All they have is a single video clip of Cheney saying it was a possibility that was indicated by Romanian intelligence that was under review, but they generally conveniently leave out Bush's immediate clarification that there "is no link". It's pure revisionism.

1. That was subby's point, presumably- even Bush dropped that meme a long time ago, but here she is repeating it.

2. The old news is from September '03, six months after the war started. The administration was in full always-at-war-with-Eastasia mode by that point.

I'm just waiting for her to suggest we need a missle defense shield to defeat terrorism.

Hours after the USS Cole is bombed (see October 12, 2000), presidential candidate Governor George W. Bush is asked about the bombing. He replies, "Today, we lost sailors because of what looks like to be a terrorist attack. Terror is the enemy. Uncertainty is what the world is going to be about, and the next president must be able to address uncertainty. And that's why I want our nation to develop an antiballistic missile system that will have the capacity to bring certainty into this uncertain world." Author Craig Unger comments, "Bush's proposal of an antiballistic missile system suggests that he failed to understand that al-Qaeda's terrorism was fundamentally different from conventional warfare." [Unger, 2004, pp. 107, 479]

Obama attended two colleges and McCain attended one. Guess McCain is smarter

This isn't rocket science. The capital letter 'I', which is the first and most prominent part of "Iraq", looks a lot like the number 1, particularly if you bend the top part of it down a little bit. Now for those keeping track at home, how many 1s are there in "9/11"? Not just one, but two.

And of course, those of us in the moral community have long pointed out the aesthetic similarities between the number '9' and the letter 'q'. Good luck getting any reporting on that from the MSM (Marxist-Stalinist Media).

From J. Robinette Biden's Wikipedia entry:

Biden attended the University of Delaware in Newark, where by his own later description he was a lazy student. He graduated with a double major in history and political science in 1965, ranked 506th of 688 in his class. He went on to receive his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1968, where by his own description he again underperformed and ranked 76th of 85 students. He was admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1969.

Sounds like Palin is in good company at the bottom of the class.

Sidenote: MBA's are barely graduate degrees IMO. I'd say it's almost more of a professional certification.

I'm not denying that Al Gore isn't the smartest though. Bush and Gore were both huge underachievers. It's Bushes verbal ability that make people think he's an idiot.

on to McCain-Obama though.

By your argument, Obama has the JD and is therefore smarter. You kind of submarined your own argument with your Gore Comment.

But in a military academy you can't really underachieve as much as you can in a regular college, you don't get away with it. I think this actually says more about his intelligence level than Bush Or Gores Grades because of the discipline factor at the academy.
