(Little Green Footballs) Obvious When The National Enquirer broke the Edwards story, they were heroically taking on the stodgy, do-nothing MSM. Now that they're attacking Palin, they're back to being a lying, anti-American tabloid rag   (littlegreenfootballs.com) divider line 65

I wonder when the "Obama Family Shockers:What Barrack's Really Hiding" issue is coming out?

Well, the Enquirer got scooped. Which family "shocker" would you like to talk about? There's only been about two dozen leveled at Obama and his family over the past year and half.

They always were a miserable tabloid. They just happened to get one juicy story that was actually right. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Before teh intartubes really took off, I'd say the Enquirer was the best of the tabloid rags. But consider the competition.

Little Green Footballs? Seriously, why not just greenlight submissions from the guy who'll wash your windshield while you're stopped at an intersection in traffic? That guy makes more sense, and actually provides a service.

stpickrell 2008-09-12 11:49:17 AM
They were by and large right about Clinton -- he admitted an affair with Gennifer Flowers during the Paula Jones deposition.

The thing is, sex and drugs scandals affect the Republicans more than they affect the Democrats.

stpickrell 2008-09-12 11:51:25 AM
BTW, is the Enquirer promising more proof or is this just repeating of Alaska rumors? If the former, could get interesting. If the latter, meh.

That's probably because Republican sex scandal usually involve gay sex... which is something they are suppose to be totally against because it is just totally immoral and against God, blah blah blah.

You really think those guys can handle any motored vehicle more complicated than an old Volvo? You're out of your goddam mind.

Keep your stereotypes straight. Just because it's an insult doesn't mean it can be effectively leveled at anyone. And honestly, going out of your way to insult Kossacks makes you look desperate. You think if Farkers could write diaries, we wouldn't be far more crazy-sounding?

This pretty much sums up the Enquirer. It's a trash rag, and is as such best ignored.

Swampthing in Korea: What is the problem with LGF?

Good question. The left wingers can no more biatch about LGF than the right wingers can about the Daily KOS. Seriously, the article was a link to the Enquirer, giving people on LGF a chance to discuss the article. Sure, the discussion will be heavily bent to the right, but it still doesn't invalidate the existence of the Enquirer article.

Inspired strategy, though. Keep accusing her of EVERYTHING - being grandmother to her own baby, book banning, getting an amniocentesis because you're thinking of having an abortion (despite your life-long pro-life views), don't have the abortion just to show you're pro-life, speaking in tongues, trying to fire just about everyone in Alaska (it seems) - and eventually anything you say about her will seem ridiculous. Pretty interesting way of destroying all your remaining credibility.

They should talk about what she's REALLY responsible for...
/earthquakes
//high fuel prices
///hurricanes in the Gulf
//// and Donald Trump's hair

DailyKos readers are the equivalent of Little Green Footballs readers, just with opposite political aspirations. Seriously, the same level of crazy is on both sites.

No. The crazy level on Kos corresponds with RedState and maybe the freepers (though I rate the freepers a bit crazier on average.)

lgf is at the crazy level of democratic underground or the hill44/noquarter crowd.

Kos averages higher because reputable politicians actually post there in addition to the nuts.

John Edwards was sneaking around and having an affair while his wife is dying from cancer. He selfishly risked the Dem's getting completely screwed this year. Yeah, I would call the Enquirer heroes for that. I fail to see how what they're doing now isn't a dogged attack on her, but I'll change my position if they come up with something legitimate.

seventypercent [TotalFark] 2008-09-12 12:09:38 PM
Darconix: But you're right, though. The Kossacks wouldn't be able to figure out how drive the forklift. No place to put their latte.

Holding the latte isn't an issue, as most modern forklifts are equipped with beverage holders. However, I have had problems with inadvertently clipping the steering wheel with my finger as I take a drink, as I naturally keep my pinky fully extended. This typically results in diverting the forklift into things like plate-glass windows and unsuspecting tour groups. I must admit, however, that a part of me laughs uproariously at the sight of all of those people scattering like frightened rabbits.

Uh, to begin with, the picture comparison is pointless since:

Cox and Forkum were not stereotyping Jews as a race, but rather drawing a caricature of a individual who was a known terrorist.

Second, all the quotes from LGF are drawn from posters, which LGF specifically states are the individual opinions of the people themselves, and do not represent the website.

The main problem moon-bats et alia have with it is his coverage of "The Religion of Peace™" extremist adherents. Every-time they do something wacky, Charles covers it. And that's "racist", somehow. A lot of 9/11, Palin, and election coverage today, but a typical day will link to a good half dozen news reports of Muslim clerics saying how murder is A-OK by Allah and/or reports of the bombings, throat slitting, and rapes that inevitably follow from such. Plus for added "racist" goodness he reports on cases where the perps were excused by Sharia or Sharia-Influenced justice systems that don't count non-muslims as equal to muslims under the courts.

One example is on the current mix-up.....

"The chief of Saudi Arabia's Supreme Judiciary Council has issued a fatwa letting Muslims know that if a TV channel airs "immoral" content during Ramadan, it's OK to murder the owners."

It's sort of a specialty of his to expose the dark intolerant underbelly of the Muslim faith, Muslim intolerance fir non-Muslims, and Muslim justice systems. The funny bit is his many critics who sign onto the evangelical atheist meme that "Religion Is The Main Source Of Modern Evil" but feel uncomfortable with the religion in question being specifically NOT Christianity.

The 16-year old mentioned in this article is Palin's son.....it happened three years ago:

Four teenagers arrested in Mat-Su bus vandalism

Alaska State Troopers on Monday arrested four young men suspected of vandalizing buses in the Mat-Su School District last week.

Three of the four suspects are charged as juveniles. A 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds were arrested at their homes and taken to the Mat-Su Youth Facility.

Eighteen-year-old Deryck Harris was also arrested at his home and taken to Mat-Su pretrial, where he was charged as an adult.

Troopers spokesman Greg Wilkinson says all four have been charged with criminal mischief, trespassing and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief.

The 16-year-old suspect also is charged with theft and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Police allege he stole a bottle of vodka from a local liquor store the night of the vandalism and supplied it to the group.
---
Vandals last Tuesday removed valve stems from the tires from nearly half the district's bus fleet.

Troopers say 69 tires were deflated on more than 40 buses.

Also, engine block heaters had been unplugged on 110 buses, preventing them from starting in the sub-zero temperatures.

The damage forced school officials to close 31 of the district's 36 schools.

What, no linky to the actual article?

Just to forewarn against buying into this new "exclusive" too much, I've read a quote from one of the four kids actually named as one of the vandals explicitly saying the Palin kid wasn't with them for this incident.

At this rate, the media will have cried "Moose!" so often that when and if an actual moose appears, no one will believe them.

On one hand we have rumors from unnamed teenagers alledging the behavior of other teenagers who happen to be the children of a candidate.

On the other hand we have a candidate (or a former candidate, but his indiscretions occurred while he was a candidate) who cheated on his wife, and diverted campaign funds to his mistress.

People really have trouble seeing wich is more of an important story?
