Really, it's too bad that the Libertarians and Greens don't have more support. Maybe Georgia would actually be in play for once.

GoDawgs!: Maybe Georgia would actually be in play for once.

If the dems ticket was reversed (Biden for pres, Obama VP) GA would be in play. If another Southern Democrat governor runs for pres GA will be wide open. Obama has 2 things going against him, he is from Chicago and he doesn't have grey hair.

There's a seriously partisan modmin on here. Yeah, there are a lot of bad Palin articles but those write themselves. The anti-Obama headlines are particularly smarmy and douchebaggerly.

Actually it is a 10% shift. McCain gained 5 and Obama lost 5

Georgia is a place where the Palin half of the ticket has a huge influence - people would vote for a Bullwinkle/Palin ticket.

It's arguable whether GA would ever be in play, but having it as a lock for McCain means he devotes fewer resources there and any coattails that Obama had have evaporated.

GoodScout 2008-09-12 12:09:34 PM
Why is so much right-wing blogger BS being greenlighted today? Drew worried about a Democratic tax on Heineken?

Exactly. I don't think the so called 50 state strategy was or is real. I think it was an attempt by Obama to try to get McCain to divert money to safe states. I don't think much has been spent in places like N. Dakota or Georgia

The is bad news for Obama. Lets just hope that he can hold on to Texas.

I'm surprised Obama's team even pretended Georgia was in play.

AmPm 2008-09-12 12:15:15 PM
I'm still looking for the part in the article where he actually implodes. I see a lot of crap about what might happen at some given time in history but I see no implosion at all. If the title is promising me implosion, I want farking implosion and now!

Bad_Seed 2008-09-12 12:15:29 PM
In other news McCain imploded in California and Massachusetts.

RemyDuron 2008-09-12 12:15:56 PM
Wee, I love right wing days. Too bad this will be entirely forgotten about the next time Kos gets a greenlight then it's something "OMG LIBERAL BIAS ON FARK!"

The Bestest 2008-09-12 12:15:57 PM
Once upon a time, I actually thought GA might be in play, given how enthusiastic for Obama people were around here and the hope that Barr would draw enough of the conservative vote away to make things interesting.

..then I remember how many "W" stickers on the back of carsSUV/pickups I see around here on a daily basis and I'm quickly brought back to reality.

lexslamman 2008-09-12 12:16:40 PM
This decision was made the day Palin was selected. Obama still has resources in the Dakotas and Montana, which are still very much in play, as are Virginia, Colorado, and North Carolina.

Florida and Missouri are the ones that I (as an Obama supporter) have the most concern for.

Hang On Voltaire: Actually it is a 10% shift. McCain gained 5 and Obama lost 5

I just did a literal facepalm. Those percentages didn't come from nowhere. It's the same 5%.

Rapmaster2000: I'm surprised Obama's team even pretended Georgia was in play.

They're hoping Bob Barr will syphon votes. Note, none of these idiotic polls are taking Barr into account. And Georgia polls of all places SHOULD have Barr in them. If that was the case, the lead right now in that poll would shrink to probably around 11-12 points.

Which is a gripe I have with the tracking polls and most polls in general. They need to include Barr, Nader and maybe even McKinney before I'll really buy into any of them.

Eagle2001 2008-09-12 12:19:30 PM
I live in Georgia (and am getting a kick out of these replies) and there's no way the state was going to vote for a secret muslim. Add Palin to McCain's ticket and it was over before it got started.

Sadly, one person I know went from a Hillary supporter to a Palin supporter because "she seems like she honest."

And at what point did anyone ever expect him to take Georgia? The whole premise of this is ridiculous. It's like saying that McCain tanking in NY is a serious issue.

LIBS!

You don't understand!

Obama has imploded in a state he was never going to carry in the first place, two months before the actual election! It is all over for the Democrap campaign!

Look at what HOV said! It's so bad that McCain actually found an extra 5% to beat Obama by! That's 105%! B. Hussein Osama is toast!
