This term, Rock and Roll, I don't think it means what you think it means.

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-09-12 11:11:13 AM
Sixx rages, "There's a lot of s#*t out there where people are calling it rock. I went into Barnes & Noble (store) the other day, and there's a huge display that says 'rock & roll,' and it had a big thing of Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. I went, 'What the f%*k is this?' People are believing that s*&t that is not rock 'n' roll (and) is not the rock lifestyle is rock!"

...and you said all this from inside...a Barnes & Noble? You hard rocking bad ass.

Sixx, you've earned your rock & roll cred by being dead for 8 minutes but that statement was farking retarded. No one considers Miley Cyrus "rock". I don't think anyone considers anything that's on the radio now to be rock. He probably discovers this fact every few hours because of loss of short term...something something.

Well, he should know.

MaxxLarge [TotalFark] 2008-09-12 11:17:57 AM
Is he the one who looks like a reanimated corpse, or the one who used to nail Pam Anderson?

Either way...hooray for relevance.

CrankMyBlueSax 2008-09-12 11:59:00 AM
When Sixx was a rock star, they had to play in the snow, uphill, both ways. And that's the way they liked it. Now get off his lawn.

And it was all acoustic, all the time. Cause electricity had not been discovered yet.

GurneyHalleck [TotalFark] 2008-09-12 12:03:02 PM
Motley Crue stopped being relevant as soon as "Theatre of Pain" was released. "Home Sweet Home" did its part to kill rock and roll. Luckily R&R limped along for another decade before Clinton stabbed it with THE DIGITAL MILLENNIUM COPYRIGHT ACT OF 1998 and the FCC beheaded it by letting Clear Channel own as many stations as they wanted to.

But "Shout at the Devil" is a bad ass rock and roll album.

NittLion78 2008-09-12 12:09:34 PM
If this were Lemmy Kilmister making this statement, it would receive the NittLion78 Rock God Seal of ApprovalTM, but Nikki Sixx? Really?

His book "The Heroin Diaries" was entertaining.

Uhhh, has he listening to Sixx: A.M. yet?

Not rock and roll. Suck, massive suck.

FuzzyNoNoseChimp [TotalFark] 2008-09-12 12:55:29 PM
Rock 'n Roll no longer exists. It's either pop, alternative, or emo.

Why is he lashing out at Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers? I'm sure Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers aren't saying "look at us we're rock and roll". So he went into Barnes and Noble were in the Rock section....big deal...it wasn't the artists who put the stuff there.

Just needs something to complain about I guess.

martin van buren 2008-09-12 01:01:44 PM
That was a great headline which amused me. No, just kidding, it is old and tired and hasn't been funny in a long time.

TheSilverOne 2008-09-12 01:03:05 PM
I personally trust this statement. Nikki Sixx and Motley Crue did everything in their power to destroy rock n' roll, so he knows what he's talking about.

chaos731 2008-09-12 01:04:47 PM
Didn't RTFA, but if the headline is any indication whatsoever, he's absolutely right.

This is not "rock music" we're talking about...it's the very concept of rock 'n' roll.

Why the hell do you think sex and drugs get lumped in with rock 'n' roll?

The Jonas Brothers, et al, may be ostensibly "rock musicians", but they're no more "rock 'n' roll" than the Osmonds, little bit country notwithstanding.

/goes to eleven.

I drove by some college party the other day and they were blasting Miley Cyrus, dancing, and singing along. I wanted to ask them, "Seriously, guys? *MILEY CYRUS*? Doesn't that shiat embarrass you?"

Everyone knows you have to be a complete fark up to truly be good at Rock. An eight ball a day keeps the Disney away.

And what was the excuse for him sucking? David Cassidy, The Archies, The Monkees. ABBA maybe? I haven't seen any headlines about the Nikki Sixx museum.

The "Rock n Roll" hall of fame has Madonna in it. Madonna! All the while snubbing Rush. That term has no meaning to me anymore. It merely means it's not classical.

If you're looking for something worthwhile, you will not be finding it on display in a Barnes n Noble for Dawkin's sake! Try looking in Sweden.

Opeth growls their collective approval.

Who the f*ck are the Jonas Brothers? Are they like a Jehovah's Witness team?

GurneyHalleck: "Home Sweet Home" did its part to kill rock and roll.

This. I'm sure he's bitter after so many years of trying to write stuff that doesn't make Mick Marrs sound tone deaf fat-fingered, but he's got to know that his band played a huge part in ruining rock music.

zappaisfrank [TotalFark] 2008-09-12 01:22:50 PM
Sorry, Nikki...your band of untalented pukeheads turned heavy metal into "teenage girl with sprayed up hair" music.

Go fark yourself!

Nothing says "I'm a badass rock and roller" like driving the SUV down to Barnes and Noble. I bet he really let it all out and had a cappucino too.

CaptainBeer 2008-09-12 01:23:24 PM
Real rock and roll DOES exist. It's just trying to keep a low profile so it won't be associated with the asspandas in teh business these days. It's been way too corporate for way too long.

StvyRayVhn1 2008-09-12 01:25:48 PM

"I'm a rock n' roll junkie"

sure home sweet home is a piece of crap, but that was way late in their career. I know i'm dealing with the hard rocking fark critics who can quote airheads at the drop of a hat, but songs like livewire and ten seconds to love farking rule; especially for their time periods.

And considering the band has probably snorted/injected more shiat than just about any band in existence, i can understand why Nikki Sixx would be pissed seeing his album in the same category as Miley Cyrus/the Jonas Brothers

I read the Motley Crüe biography "The Dirt" and it was an entertaining read, but some parts just seemed extremely embellished.

Like the one part where Nikki Sixx says he was high out of his mind and nailed some dude's earlobe to a table for talking shiat. I don't think I could muster that kind of coordination sober, let alone strung out.

Lloyd Braun 2008-09-12 01:40:55 PM
I disagree with Nikki. I think if anything the Jonas Brothers are reviving rock n' roll.

Uh...no...it was on their second major label album in 1985!

/I don't count Too Fast For Love because it came out first on a private label.

Another man who had his head nailed to the floor was Stig O' Tracy.

Rogers: I've been told Nikki Sixx nailed your head to the floor.
Stig: No. Never. He was a smashing bloke. He used to buy his mother flowers and that. He was like a brother to me.
Rogers: But the police have film of Sixx actually nailing your head to the floor.
Stig:(pause) Oh yeah, he did that.
Rogers: Why?
Stig: Well he had to, didn't he? I mean there was nothing else he could do, be fair. I had transgressed the unwritten law.
Rogers: What had you done?
Stig: Er... well he didn't tell me that, but he gave me his word that it was the case, and that's good enough for me with old Nikki. I mean, he didn't *want* to nail my head to the floor. I had to insist. He wanted to let me off. He'd do anything for you, Sixxy would.
Rogers: And you don't bear him a grudge?
Stig: A grudge! Old Sixxy. He was a real darling.
Rogers: I understand he also nailed your wife's head to a coffee table. Isn't that true Mrs O' Tracy?
Mrs O' Tracy: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Stig: Well he did do that, yeah. He was a hard man. Vicious but fair.

The kind that has a yearly budget line-item for eyeliner, and spends more time in the bathroom than his girlfriend.

I saw an episode of Hannah Montana once. (Please don't ask why)

She does, in fact, claim repeatedly that she's a rock star. It's not just barnes and noble. I can't imagine that she thinks of herself as anything other than a pop musician, but at the very least, Disney has been trying to push that idea.
