Guess what submittard - most old people are smart enough to realize that an old person isn't the best choice for president of the united states.

Dinki: Guess what submittard

It's "implies," not "infers," and I'm sorry for bringing Dinki into this. But, you just made this grammar nazi insane. Go Obama!

Some Democrats have privately groused that Obama is attacking Palin and arguing that job should fall to Biden.

"Some: AP reporter is making "some" people up.

"Some" people believe that Brian Schweitzer should be president.

I hope that the Democrats aren't hoping that the youth vote will outweigh the senior vote. For as much enthusiasm and passion that young people, especially college students, have, they don't vote on election day.

For example, there's this site with statistics (pops):

36% of 18- to 24-year-olds voted in the 2000 election.

72% of the population between the ages of 65 and 74 said they voted in the 2000 election, the highest of any age group; and 78 percent reported that they were registered to vote.

Now give us the stats of how many 18-24 year olds are smothered with pillows as they sleep, as compared with the 65-74 bracket.

/Age war. It's coming.

My 95-year-old grandfather can send and receive e-mail. He keeps the caps lock key on all the time, but I figure it's because he's hard of hearing, so I cut him some slack.

keylock71 2008-09-12 08:22:35 AM
Infer?

He is old, and he is out of touch. Plain and simple.

The old thing itself, isn't necessarily a bad thing... I just went to my wife's grandmother's 94 birthday last night. She's only got one leg, but her mind's still sharp, and she knows how many houses she used to own before going to the old age home... One.

TFA: "Today is the first day of the rest of the campaign," Obama campaign manager David Plouffe says in a campaign strategy memo. "We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain's attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people."

And not a moment too soon. I can't believe they've waited this long.

When it goes from simple distortion about policies - "Barack Obama voted for higher taxes eighty times" - to outright lies and slander - "Barack Obama wants to teach your five year olds sex ed."

Its my only real problem with her so far. Not that the full Bush Doctrine is clearly defined, but damn, it has a simple form...attack before they attack you. She eventually answered that yes, with enough intelligence that is the way to go...but damn he had to lead her to get there.

Not that I can talk intelligently on oil policy on the North Slope and ANWR etc... But that is one she should have hit out of the park.

subby doesn't know the difference between "infer" and "imply"

I think "imply" is the word you want.

The speaker "implies" something but what he says. The listener "infers" something from what is said.

/sorry for being a grammar douche and surprised that nobody elsed picked up on this

With 48 hours of preparation, I bet I could whip her ass in discussions about oil policy in Alaska. I've never heard a Republican talk about how much actual oil we'd expect to get out of ANWR. Maybe they don't want to admit the facts, but then again, maybe they never bothered to look it up.

How'd we wind up with Biden when we could have had this guy?

As one of the more mature Farkers, I wish we could get some discussion on issues, but at least Obama has put forth some comprehensive discourse unlike the neo-cons who appear just to be name callers. I also think McCain is too old for the stress of the job. Look at before and after pictures of recent presidents and you will see what I mean.I also think Palin is a little cute Feminazi willing to do anything to force her views on the rest of the nation. My apologies to Godwin. Carry on.

filth: How'd we wind up with Biden when we could have had this guy?

I think it was because I changed my phone number. I thought I sent Obama an email telling him about it, but maybe it didn't get past the spam filter.

Anyway, the VP debate hasn't taken place yet. Biden will do well.

Pointing out he's not literate in current technologies is hardly "trying to destroy" him.

My seventy year old mom knows that it's a hard job and someone that age just won't have the energy for it.

So much THIS. My over-70 relatives have already expressed doubts that a man their age, even the most lucid and quick-witted, could keep up with the schedule of the POTUS "As Seen On TV".
I think most older people will search their own hearts, if they're not being blatantly insulted. Some will be offended no matter what they hear...

I bet Obama can't use a slide rule. That should be the response ad. Obama...unable to think on his own, must rely on computers and teleprompters and others to make his decisions...and his speeches.

Show his dicombobulation when his prompter went down. Show Johnny Mac figuring out where to drop his bombs in Vietnam, using a map, slide rule, and compass...before he was a POW!

I say we escalate the crap. It can't hurt anymore than what we've seen so far.

This is news? McCain IS old and out of touch.

I'm happy to see that Obama has hit him on the 'can't use a computer thing'. It's ridiculous to think we would allow someone to run this country when they can't even run a computer. How are you going to keep this company competitive if you don't know how to send email or get on the internet?
