And the sad truth is that a lot of people who are either unable or unwilling to think for themselves will believe this.

Coupled with her belief that Iraq was involved in 9/11, it really is kind of sad that none of these points will ever get mentioned. There aren't enough voters in America who want politicians to take the high road.

That's why we never saw the list of those participating in Cheney's secret energy task force. It was just Sara Palin.

I have writen about this a number of times. I am still struggling with the murder of a very dear friend. She had her PHd, in chemical engineering.

Speicificly she turned coal in to a clean liquid fuel. I am sure she is rolling in her grave over this remark. McStupid is McJackass!

Today has been very funny.

From the AP calling out McCain, to the interview, to Iraq's new found connections to 9/11. There's been so much new information released today.

I can't wait for 2 days from now when people are explaining this away.

Honestly, in nearly any other country in the world, a triple threat such as that would have fundamentally and, possibly, irreversibly changed the course of the campaign. I wonder if it'll affect the US race at all. These are issues of substance (or lack thereof), which seem to ricochet off the American electorate without the slightest dent.

I hear that. I mean, the Daily Show has been off this week, haven't they? (at least, there are no new episodes online). When they come back, they are gonna have a metric shiat-tonne of material to try to deal with.

I wish the real media would call it as straight as they do. Just do the side-by-side clips with no commentary and leave it at that and it would be enough.

*sigh*

Good luck, America.

They'll be tied at the end of the weekend. That's as much as you'll see from this day.

By tomorrow afternoon, these are the explanations:

1) The AP took his comments out of context and they are trying to push an agenda that is harmful to this country.

2) The Bush Doctrine is an ambiguous set of several varied foreign policy decisions. There is not set Doctrine and it was just a name applied by the media. Asking for clarification on such a thing is perfectly normal

3) Terrorists are in Iraq right now and terrorists were responsible for 9/11. Obviously, no one is stupid enough to say that the Iraqi government was responsible for 9/11...but people that were responsible for 9/11 are now focusing on attacking soldiers in Iraq. That is the connection that she was trying to make.

I'll bet a chocolate chip cookie that those three explanations will be available in your local Fark thread by tomorrow at 2:47pm.

Sarah Palin can conduct the country through a crisis and have dinner on the table by 6pm. negotiate a treaty and pick the kids up from the hockey game. Meet with the heads of scientific agencies and talk in tongues in church. But if she gets Cheney's powers I sure wouldn't want to be her ex-brother in law.

John McCain had no access to experts on energy for 5 1/2 years, the flagpinlessness of questioning John McCain's statements shows that you do not support the troops and we're all going to die because of that, because then Al-Queda in Iraq will attack us with Weapons of Mass Destruction because you are an appeaser!!!1

As much as there is a cult of personality around Obama, there is one starting to form around Palin; that bothers me and I'm a supporter. I understand the point McCain was trying to hit home and I'm not surprised the ignorant on the left are trying to jump on it. (Sorry but you guys have run a pretty good propoganda\lie\smear campaign and continue to repeat them in pure Goebels fashion).

Truth is, she probably knows more about energy than most in Washington. I mean let's face it, she was on the board of Oil and Gas regulators, where she discovered corruption in the Republican Party and Oil Companies - got some pretty damn valuable knowledge there. From there, as Governor she renegotiated leases with the companies and set about the pipeline that has Alaskans happy. Considering the states entire economy is pretty much based around Energy Developement; yea it's her bread and butter and another reason why McCain chose her.

I don't expect the followers of 'bama to admit to this, much as I wouldn't expect the pure Palin Followers to admit she kinda flubbed the Bush Doctrine Question (I don't blame her for asking for clarification, she could have answered in a stronger fashion imho).

So do you're little KOSKid circle jerk; this is one honest supporter who's tired of getting 'bama froth on him.

FlameDuck 2008-09-12 05:14:51 AM
Didn't Palin just have a kid. VP position is great for that, if John keeps breathing, she can concentrate on mothering.

Yes, this is a local Main reporter, and I pray to God this man gets a job on the national market. THIS is how interviews are supposed to be conducted. Making sure candidates answer questions, calling them out on their BS. Someone fire everyone at CNN and give this guy a job.

CanisNoir: I wouldn't expect the pure Palin Followers to admit she kinda flubbed the Bush Doctrine Question

Are you just ignoring the rest of that interview?

PALIN: Charlie, you're in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They're very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they're doing in Georgia?

PALIN: Well, I'm giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia.

The beauty of it, is she ends that by saying we need to have good relations with Russia while she calls for war with them for the Georgia issue in the same interview.

You were doing good right up to the point where you lied. Please show me where she called for war with Russia?

Or are you just attempting to misrepresent her *correct* answer to Gibsons hypothetical question, you know, the same answer that McCain, Biden *and* Obama would have given?

Yea, that's what I thought.

TFA only has that one sentence and not much else. I'd like to see the quote source. Too many false or half truth statements have been thrown around this election from both sides that I am no longer too quick to comment on any gaffe that I hear or read.

You can wind up looking like an idiot if you do that. For example, the "lipstick on a pig" hoopla that ended up making the Republicans look foolish.

Ronald Reagan ... smaller government ... my head is about to explode.

How can people spew these lies and not get called out on them? If there was actual evidence that McCain would noticeably shrink the size of the Federal government, he'd get my vote. But there's 40 years of history that shows Republicans create record deficits, record spending, and record increases to the size of government.

Now, while she didn't came out very sharp in that interview, she didn't call for war with Russia (at least in the transcribed part I read). She said instead military power would be justified if Russia attacks a NATO ally.

If the US has a problem with that position, all NATO members should do well do reconsider participation in the alliance.

I actually think the Lipstick Pig thing was a net pluss for McCain. It was just a single quote, but here..
Palintology (new window)

This is a very good resource site if you want to do some of your own research into her positions and accomplishments. There's a roundtable video on there too from '06 - and possibly the debate. The link "Sarah Palin on the issues" is a good one for finding out where she stands on a myriad of issues along with quotes over time.
