Let's hope he can sing better than the original guy.

/really great band, but always hated the vocals

Boo on all of this.

It's actually fairly easy to copy Jon Anderson's singing voice. Just take a firm grasp of the microphone, clear your throat, wait for Trevor to finish tuning up, and smack your self in the nads three or four times with the microphone. You'll be able to sing the entire YES catalog. Guaranteed!

I'll bet the "understudy" won't make the roadies hand wash wash his underwear.

Do me a favor and ignore the second "wash".

What, the guy from The Buggles wasn't available? It's what they did in the early 80's.

While I rather liked the album Drama, no one else seemed to.

Earguy [TotalFark] 2008-09-11 07:03:05 AM
It's not the first time Yes has had a singer besides Anderson. Trevor Horn sang on the 1980 Yes album "Drama" when Anderson briefly left the band.Squire hopes to work songs from that album into the set for the upcoming tour, plus a few songs he said were not Anderson's favorites to perform live but the rest of the band likes.

Now that I actually read the article, this may not be so bad. Though I've always liked Yes, I've also always been disappointed in their set lists when performing live. If you go to a Yes concert expecting to hear all their greatest hits, you'll be disappointed. Maybe this will change that. Now that they have a singer who's a hireling, who will do what he's told.

the understudy in question. Not the same and not woRTH THE $100 ticket. Trevor Rabin come to the rescue.

As announced on the official Yes website, Rick Wakeman would not be joining Yes on their 40th Anniversary tour,

Too bad......

Nemo's Brother 2008-09-11 07:41:37 AM
These bands, like The Stones, and whatever monstrosity they put together to call the Doors or Zepplen are parodies of themselves. The thing is, they are completely irrelevant and incapable of writing new songs. They release albums that no one cares about once in a while, but people go for the nostalgia.

Baby boomers are in denial that they are old. They still think they can "rock out". Despite being the most materialistic, self-involved generation ever, they think they have a soul and still have much to offer this world.

That's what these are for. To make them feel young and hip again. If they don't need the original front men (or they're too old), but people like them, so be it.

/I heard the Beach Boys didn't play their own instruments on their last tour. They are no better than Brittney or Ashley Simpson. It's cute.

As long as Jennifer Aniston has a lesbo scene, I'm OK with that.

I think the best Yes self-parody was when they merged the then-current lineup with Anderson, Wakeman, Bruford, and Howe for their "Union" tour. They played on a circular rotating stage so that each member could pretend that they were center-stage and wouldn't have to look at each other. Then they left the venue in nine seperate limos.

/Anderson, Walkman, Butthole, and How! ftw

I disagree. I think he sounds great! He's only a little off, but not by enough to make much of a difference musically. I'm definitely going to see this. Oh, and when I got my tix for the local show on the cancelled tour, they were only $50 a piece...10th row center.

I STILL haven't got my money back from the cancelled Pier 6 show in Baltimore. Ram's Head doesn't seem to be in any hurry to tell me how to get it, either. Dicks.

No Jon Anderson????

Unless Trevor Horn is the replacement singer, forget it.

Galaxy of Prawns: No John Anderson, no Rick Wakeman, no Yes.

Exactly. I was alittle wary about not having Wakeman, but was reassured knowing that his son was sitting in. But no Anderson and replacing him with a guy from a tribute band is no Yes to me.

I do. "Tempus Fugit" got me to buy the album and I loved it. Not their best album but not their worst.

The last bass-player for the Dayton band Guided By Voices had previously played with a Guided By Voices tribute band.

(look it up)

I'm still trying to decide what I think about this. It seems so faux yet, I want to hear live YES again.
If they had Rick along I'd be all for it immediately. Having 2 major members having to be accounted for is such a risky venture.
Could be exciting, could be a trainwreck.

Wait... Isn't that what rock and roll is all about? I'll probably go. I've never been dissapointed when I've seen YES. Squire and co. won't go out unless it sounds good.
