The Mars Volta? Hasn't New Orleans suffered enough already?

cool line up

went to the one with Tool and the Black Crowes (year escapes me) and had a great time

hope Ike doesn't decide to finish the job for Gustav

Whats the deal, are the Butthole Surfers still touring now?

|They did a mini-tour a couple months ago and played nothing but oldies, I want to see that badly

I'm confused, via your profile, you should like Mars Volta. I suppose to each their own but they are easily the best experimental band in the world right now and Omar Rodriquez' solo stuff (especially the amazing 'The Apocalypse Inside of An Orange') is unbelievable.

They are also one of the best live acts I've ever seen (I've seen them 4 times: 2 with Jon Theodore, 2 with Thomas Prigden).

//Psychedelic fusion represent.

Fark u in the ear! Those guys kick ass live. Sorry if you don't 'get it'. But they truly are an amazing band. I had the good fortune of seeing them do most of Frances the Mute with Frusciante playing his parts live. Pretty much bliss.

The only time that the Mars Volta is tolerable live is when they get into a bass grove or actually focus and try to play something recognizable as a song instead of masturbate their egos for 5+ minutes of senseless noise. Even pot doesn't make a Mars Volta show better. Pot even makes funerals better and it can't manage to improve this crap.

Weird, I just took that week off for the big first wedding anniversary. I like The Mars Volta pretty okay, but my wife really likes them A LAWT, so I guess I know where I'm gonna be that weekend.

I can be an impartial judge and say I saw the Mars Volta open for the Pixies, and not knowing a song of them I can vouch for them having the ability to rock pretty hard

The lovely ones are playing here in Austin this month... went to Waterloo to get a ticket and confusion reigned as they were filed under R for Return of the Butthole Surfers.

Sometimes reunions work...

I love the Butthole Surfers. Saw 'em thrice back in the day. Good times.

I'd love for the butthole surfers to tour more and record more. I love those guys.

And I laughed at the Mars Volta comment. I'm not a fan of their music but I'm a massive fan of them being different in a very conservative music world. 100% respect for the Mars Volta.

lucky bastard.

it is a shame the volta have seemingly abandoned their dub roots. i miss the funkiness in their music (the breakdown in 'eriatarka', for instance). i have a feeling that they will never top 'deloused...' and 'frances'.

Yeah. Amputechture was such a letdown compared to Frances.

There's a greenlight up now saying Ike is heading that direction. I'm in New England, but I feel bad...I like the Surfers too.
