if he only made 500 a truckload, how the hell was he able to put up 10,000 dollars bail?

LegacyDL 2008-09-07 06:35:29 PM
I feel weird reading "$50,000" and "water" in the same sentence.

So, it comes out of the tap for free, and you put it in a plastic bottle, and it's $50k? I have to change my profession.

Sodium Benzoate 2008-09-07 06:37:49 PM
Is there a black market for bottled water?

Hey man, where can I score some wet?

We will sell the water and our stock will rise high!

He was booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail on a grand theft charge but was released later Saturday after posting $10,000 bail.

Hope nobody butters his bread in there.

What the hell do you do with that much water?

Make the ultimate purified swimming pool?

Worker is paid $2,500 to steal five truckloads of water to "support family."

Arrested and jailed with $10,000 bail.

Posts bail and is now $7,500 in the red plus wages forfeited during water-stealing time. Future legal fees and expenses incurred during unemployment unknown.

A real winner here.

Samsaran: In other news he hasn't been away from the urinal for 6 weeks either.

On a related note, the guy who thought up the idea of putting WATER, I mean something that falls out of the farking SKY fer crissakes and selling it for the price of actual food ... well he was a marketing genius.

as is the person who thought up putting bikes that go nowhere and treadmills so you don't walk anywhere and charging you $50/mth for it.

serial_crusher [TotalFark] 2008-09-07 06:55:34 PM
Samsaran: My previous post makes more sense if you add "in bottles" ...

Kind of like a fortune cookie.

williamzabka 2008-09-07 07:09:58 PM
I would say more that the water is probably worth $2,000 and they just estimate that they would charge $50,000 for that amount of water.

Need the money to "support his family," but came up with 10K bail quick, fast and in a hurry. What's wrong with this picture? Ah, he's in Florida, that's it! Nothing he says has to make sense -- even stealing WATER is okay on FLA. IDIOTS!

Shift_Left_Political 2008-09-07 07:13:40 PM
I was going to suggest that maybe somebody needs to test their blood sugar more regularly, if they're that thirsty all the time.

Hard to imagine, even in Florida.

That's only $1,000. Cash bond is 10%.

Also, I was disappointed by the only reference to the name of the jail, so here's this:

So that's like 5,000 bottles of water from my hotel's minibar? Or 2,500 bottles of water on my Delta flight?

Sounds like he's going on ice for awhile

Learned how to do that when I bought Beavis and Butt-head #1 Circa 1993

Came in solely for the Land O' Lakes butter reference and was not disappointed. God bless you farkers.

Sounds like someone's running a hydroponic operation and didn't want to be under scrutiny by using the public water supply. Ten to one this "other location" where the water was going is powered by a generator or is otherwise off the grid.

I have a well.
And a pump.

My water tastes better than bottled water and was tested for purity, which they said was terrific and I should sell it.

Total cost = power to pump it out.

KumikoPLUS2 2008-09-07 09:38:56 PM
If this happened 50 years ago, the guy would be fired and that would be the end of it, the story would never make the paper.

I still can't believe that people will buy water. If I'm going to part with money for a drink, it better taste really good.

I'm disappointed that only one other Farker besides myself picked up on the Land O' Lakes jail bit. Are companies sponsoring prisons now? Next week are we going to read about someone getting sent to the Shell Oil holding cell at the Taco Bell jail? It would be both hilarious and saddening at the same time.

G3 Power 2008-09-07 09:48:29 PM
When I worked at Home Depot between government jobs last year, they would give that stuff away to us like crazy. Then, when the economy really started tanking and they were downsizing, they started paying attention to just how much water they marked down for employees. Our store alone gave away nearly $4000 worth in a month's time.

bel4sucks 2008-09-07 10:23:36 PM
This guy's entire supervisor staff should be fired too, as well as inventory, and security. How did they not notice an unregistered trailer being loaded with product, how did inventory not notice a few truckloads of full pallets not in their locations, and how did a trailer with no bills get past security?

mikalmd 2008-09-07 10:29:55 PM
Water is the largest volume traded commodity...At 10 grand per truck load, he sells it for 500.. he deserves to be busted for just being stupid....
