In other words, Joe Lieberman.

No thanks.

well he needs someone to test new not-torture techniques on.

He'll need a job when his term runs.

Didn't Bush say something similar in 2000? And then he outdid Nixon in paranoid, secretive, downright vicious partisan hackery.

patrick767 [TotalFark] 2008-09-07 12:35:45 PM
"It's going to be the best people in America, the smartest people in America," he said in an interview taped on Saturday.

O rly? So clearly your VP pick is an example of one of the best, smartest people in America?
/liar, liar...

fappityfappityfap 2008-09-07 12:40:08 PM
Maybe that's why they want those guys out of the Troopergate investigation, so they have time to prepare for the cabinet!

GAT_00 [TotalFark] 2008-09-07 12:41:39 PM
Sure, why not say that. Would we even notice one more lie from McCain at this point?

Well, she DOES wear glasses.

He wants the smartest in America. But hasn't McCain said that if you are smart that you can't relate to the common American and are elitist?

Oktoberain 2008-09-07 12:42:28 PM
Gramps wants Lieberman in his kitchen(s)? Welll...okay. You talked me into it, McCain. I guess we can somehow give him up, if you promise to never, ever, EVER give him back.

/Or maybe the bathroom(s). Lots of potential cabinets there, too.

Snarfangel [TotalFark] 2008-09-07 12:42:38 PM
They might not mind being put in his cabinet, but I bet they'll complain when he starts storing them in his root cellar.

pwhp_67 2008-09-07 12:45:18 PM
Does anyone remember Richard Clarke?

Bush appointee kept on by Clinton. Bill didn't brag about though.

Of course, Bush Jr. shoved the guy in a closet and ignored him...

jake_lex [TotalFark] 2008-09-07 12:48:05 PM
Actually, Bush did put one Democrat in his cabinet that I can think of off the top of my head: Norman Mineta, Sec. of Transportation.

Who was attacked in rather slimy, racist terms by Ann Coulter (making weird accusations that his Japanese-American heritage, and his experiences in an internment camp, made him hate America or something) after 9/11.

Yeah--I wonder what toenail he's growing under now? He seems the perfect type to thrive well in a cabinet. Preferably a damp one.

I would call shenanigans, smart people wouldn't vote for McCain.

Those that think they're smart are just blind by ideology which in effect makes them dumb.

I see Subby (R) used the good old "HERO" tag on this one, but I would have to say the proper tag on this headline is clearly the "UNLIKELY" tag.

You are absolutely right; I have such a horrible time recognizing sarcasm (especially when it would need to be that sarcastic)...

Funny that you mention kitchen cabinets since that's what Andrew Jackson called his group of secret advisers (no so much secret but the equivalent of Rove's position in Bush's cabinet), and we all know how that administration turned out.

Trail of tears anyone?
Telling the Supreme Court "You and which Army?"
Mullet hairstyle.

In other words, Lieberman.

Palin was the only one of the top four candidates who did not appear on the Sunday talk show circuit. She has not been questioned by the media since McCain made her his surprise pick for No. 2 on August 29.

What are they afraid of? "Oh she has what it takes to be President should something bad happen, but NO you can't talk to her!!"

Bush did have a Democrat in his cabinet - Transportation Secretary Norm Mineta.

I came here to say that. Mineta was a bad choice. He was not a good cabinet member and he did nothing that I can see to diversify the point of view of the cabinet. (Even before he got sick.)

Katie98_KT 2008-09-07 01:58:39 PM
LIEBERMAN DOES NOT COUNT

bales [TotalFark] 2008-09-07 01:58:55 PM
ya know, i think that if mccain gets elected he would govern from a more centrist place than the place he campaigning on. he knows he cannot beat obama with the moderates, so his best bet is to swing to the extreme right; he realizes that this is his last shot, so he is going balls to the wall.

so when he says things like this, despite their political nature, i kind of believe him. i just think that obama would be leaps and bounds better for the country in every way. not to mention he isn't lying and distorting the truth the way the RNC did. their distortions are getting to be too much.

He certainly tried. Read the 9/11 Commission.

Did people forget he's pretty much a centrist? It's fairly comforting that he's willing to reach across the aisle like this.

Now fix that economy so you don't take the rest of the world down with you.

/40 day election cycle FTW!
