Wow, I love Buddy Holly so much in that kind of I-really-farking-love-you-even-though-I-never-put-in-your-CD kind of way.

My favorite Buddy performance.

Wonder if Ed crapped himself when Buddy howled into the solo.

I've never seen what the fuss was about Buddy Holly. He just doesn't seem particularly talented, and all his songs are boring and sound the same.

To each his own, especially in musical tastes ... but i really have to disagree with you on this one.

This would have been Buddy's 72nd birthday if he just stayed on the bus.
And also, the year was 1958 not 1959!

Once a reporter asked Louis Armstrong what jazz was.

He replied, "If you gotta ask, you'll never know".

Color film of Buddy - not the right audio tho (new window)

/that Louis quote never fails me, I use it like Bevets

I really wonder what he would have sounded like if he had lived to see, and hear, the '60s. Buddy Holly influenced by and interacting with Bob Dylan and the British Invasion? I bet it would have been amazing.

I second THIS....as retarded an opinion as ever. What is forgotten, is rock and roll was in it's infancy - it barely existed. What Buddy Holly did was unique, new, and controversial. I believe an argument could be made that rock and roll as we know it today might not have existed without Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly rebelled and won.

As far as the postard making the original "what is the fuss about...", that just shows severe narrow mindedness and a lack of R&R history knowledge. He should stick with "your favorite band sucks" because he can't make an intelligent argument.

The problem with ignorant children is they can't comprehend the history of things. The way things change and develop.

"I don't see the big deal with....."
Holly
Beatles
Hendrix
....etc...

Dumb tards don't understand that the original masters INVENTED most of what they played. There was NOBODY before them to influence them like there is today. The simple fact that Holly wrote his own songs and played electric guitar was highly unique in of itself.

If you want to start a rock band now in 2008 you have 60 years of history to draw from.
Holly basically had NOTHING to draw from.
This is why the originals were so great.
Berry,Richard,Diddley,Presley etc.
