They've consistently put out good, interesting albums with some great tunes on each one. I look forward to them hopefully come up with something even more awesome than "Time is Running Out.

Some of their stuff does. Especially when performed live.

The trailer for 30 Days of Night used a track as well.

After Guitar Hero III came out, a lot of sports teams seem to be using Knights of Cydonia as send up track when they come out onto the field/court/whatever.

How can you compare this to Primus? Apples and oranges my friend.

Funny you should mention that. When I want to describe Muse to someone who has never heard them I often just say that they're like "Radiohead with balls."

That aside, Chris Wolstenholme is no Les Claypool. Sorry, subby.

I must say, Muse might just be one of the best live shows I've seen. Amazing sound live and they put on one hell of a show.

mahavishnunj 2008-09-07 03:03:09 AM
the singer sounds more like jeff buckley than thom yorke, i dont think they sound at all like radiohead. this clip also rules btw.

the coolest muse song(sorry theres not a good live version because they never get the backup vocals right):

So it's looped.

He's definitely not Claypool, no doubt, but that bassline just don't frickin' stop, do it?

Do not ever compare Muse to Primus. Ever.

Also, stop getting your taste in music from Entertainment Weekly

El Chode: Also, stop getting your taste in music from Entertainment Weekly

I agree. Now, if there is anyway to make your statement hypocritical....

Also in 1993--in some sense the band's breakthrough year--Primus received widespread public attention when they were named headliner of the Lollapalooza rock festival. This assignment helped their new album, Pork Soda, debut at Number Seven on the Billboard pop chart, a previously unheard-of feat for such an unconventional band. In a feature on Lollapalooza, Entertainment Weekly insisted, "There's no resisting the frenetic danceability" of the trio's "P-Funk meets Captain Beefheart set," adding, "If this band could write a melody--or, God forbid, a power ballad--it would rule the entire planet."

I submit much better muse links all the time

Ditto (or, to use the vernacular, "THIS")

No way you can compare Primus and Muse. Primus rocks on the bass, drums, and guitar while Muse simply rocks. Different styles for different moods but I love them both. Muse seems to have simpler instrumentals but all the parts combine so well to create their music.

Also my contribution (Muse rocking Piano):

/good stuff starts about 3:30ish
//cool bass riff in beginning too

mug_costanza 2008-09-07 02:47:53 PM
This song is indeed fantastic. On a related note, even though it's fairly simple, "Plug In Baby" has one of the best guitar riffs I've ever heard.

/would probably kill to get tickets to see Muse live.

specialk111 2008-09-07 05:20:11 PM
Damn, I'm gone for a little bit and a Muse thread breaks out?!

Such a great group. Bellamy brings a lot of the soul to the band, but Chris and Dom add their skills to bring it to life.

/missed their show last September in Seattle
//looks like they won't be back for awhile
///I'll get over it

What's this? Muse finally getting some love from Farkers? Color me amazed.

I picked up their live CD/DVD set earlier this year..and am getting a kick out of how much "Knights of Cydonia" at Wembley farking ROCKED.

/not so much with the kick-getting from these replies though

lacydog 2008-09-07 07:55:02 PM
Just wanted to add that I love this band. I own all their CDs, including HAARP and Hullabaloo (live CD/DVD sets). Hysteria is the song that got me hooked. And Knights of Cydonia is the best song ever.

ravenlore [TotalFark] 2008-09-07 09:05:16 PM
Add me to the Muse love.

I have to restrain myself from just randomly starting to dance when "Hysteria" coes up on the MP3 player.

/LOVE "Time is Running Out"

STRYPERSWINE 2008-09-07 09:41:28 PM
Wow that was utter shiate. Is this the latest thing hipsters say we're supposed to like?

danduran 2008-09-08 02:01:42 AM
Seen Muse four times now, brilliant every time. Hysteria never fails to impress the band geeks in the audience if you use it to soundcheck with also...

dog_ninja 2008-09-08 10:27:45 PM
You can't compare this crap to primus. AT least Primus is a challenge to play.

/And the slightest bit original.

You will not troll with the last post, sir. Both "New Born" and "Hysteria" are by no means easy to play. And Muse is plenty original.
