Okay, I'm all for that, but....FIFTEEN TANKS OF TARANTULAS??? How nice can one person be? And they're spiders, for god's sake! They don't need good homes! Just dump them out in the back yard!

I'm a bit more worried about the wolf-hybrids. No one in the suburbs has any business owning a wolf-hybrid unless they know how to properly acclimate it. They can be great pets, but you really have to be prepared to establish its position in your "pack". Otherwise they're as dangerous as, well, wild wolves.

Big deal. I know there's a city ordinance and all, but I say let them keep their spiders. They're secured in aquariums, so where's the danger? Not like they have a pet tiger in their backyard or anything actually dangerous.

I grew up in Sioux City. When I was a kid, my sisters and I used to catch "daddy long-leg" spiders that got into the house. We'd pull their legs off, and the legs would keep kicking for some time afterwards. We little sadists found it endlessly amusing.

And now, decades later, the spiders have mutated and returned for revenge. But none of us live there anymore.

Actually, those comments reminded me that we live in a country with the world's largest nuclear arsenal and that our country is inhabited by the morons that posted comments to that article.

I was under the impression that they meant the (I didn't actually know the name) Lycosa tarantula, a wolf spider, though a second read over...you'd think as a pet they'd take the more domesticated variant of wolf, namely a dog.

They're actually far, far more dangerous than wild wolves. There has only ever been one verifiable recorded incident of wolves killing a human being. The same cannot be said for domestic dogs. So, it's when wolf hybrids start emulating domestic dogs that you really have a problem...

No, no, no... you misunderstood the article silly! They are talking about the new, "Jumping" Wolf spider-Tarantula Hybrid...Imagine if you will a a hairball the size of a softball cable of leaping 7 feet in one fiesty, spring loaded bound, able to propel the eight legged critter, with a bit of zip and pep; enabling it to arrive unexpectedly! Ready to pounce down on it's suprised prey subject and sink in it's furry quarter sized fangs. The desinger spider community wanted to give thier beloved creations a little edge in the upcoming fly season.

North Korea doesn't need to be able to deliver a nuke to devastate the world. It has, on the edge of it's border, enough artillery to make sure that every man, woman, and child is incinerated in a hail of shells in Seoul, and 23 million people in the greater Seoul area dying would decimate South Korea's economy (And would greatly hurt the rest of the world, if nothing else, because Samsung makes a ton of things we have come to depend on)

Nah. They probably taste pretty similar, although I dunno if I'd really want to cook one and find out. I have heard you can get deep-fried tarantulas in parts of SE Asia.

I kind of wonder what these guys would taste like, though:
