What does it matter? Nobody walks in LA.

LA is full of fat people.

Yeah, it is. Check out the black and Hispanic neighborhoods. Then you'll see some fat folks. This snapperhead must only be looking in Beverly Hills.

I predict this thread will be a picture war of fat and anorexic LA residents.

Welcome to Los Angeles. Our smog contains 0% trans fats.

Maybe the study is skewed! My neighbour is a lard butt and I am still kind of skinny.

Could it be that fat people attract pollution?

I wonder where I can get some grant money for this!

What about China? Many fatties there?

/I guess they don't have Fark.

LA smog will make you flaky and stupid. It's the Atlanta fog that will make you fat. It's all those burnt grits and fried eggs in the air. LA is just full of bus fumes and fruitcake poots.

These pollutants - dubbed "obesogens" as a result of these findings

I am sad to report that indeed there are over 3200 Google web search references to the word "obesogen".

Sorry, Professor Blumberg, I'm not adding that word to my spell checker.

But call me when you find something leptogenic I can expose myself to

They say the farking smog is the farking reason you have such farking beautiful sunsets.

Are they just linking obesity areas to high pollution areas? Is this just another attempt at claiming how bad pollution is?

Pollution is bad, I can understand that. But why are so many things being linked to it. I'm not a global warmer denier, but has any link scientifically been found connecting pollution and warmer earth temperatures?

/Greenhouse gases?

I didn't know that the particulates in polluted cities were comprised of Twinkies and Heineken.

khyberkitsune 2008-09-07 09:20:05 PM
Silly subby, everyone here in the Inland Empire knows the LA pollution is blown away by the sea breeze and settles here in Riverside/Redlands/San Bernardino, where are the fat people really live.

Yep. I believe LA proper isn't even in the top 10 for most polluted cities anymore. The current #1, Houston, also happens to be almost entirely populated by lard-asses.

KrustAsian 2008-09-08 12:45:20 PM
Wow, did anyone RTFA? The pollution in question is PESTICIDES, not smog.

/Why are folks in Long Beach so tubby?
