The story is Bill O'Reilly's flaming hypocrisy with respect to teenage pregnancy. He completely reversed his stance when the Republican Party chose to nominate the mom of a pregnant teenager. Pictures of said daughter are fair game in this context, because this sort of hypocrisy needs to be burned to the ground. Bill O'Reilly should not be on the air, and this is a case in point.

There's a fine line between "journalism" and "petty, childish harassment."

And by "fine" I mean a gaping chasm to cross. Fine like the border between Iraq and Pakistan, with "paparazzi" standing in as Iran.

WHy is that, exactly? She's engaging in illegal activity, the pics are clearly in the public domain, and O'Reilly's latest defense is that he was criticising the one and not the other for lack of parental supervision. Photographic evidence of lack of parental supervision looks mighty relevant to me. Those aren't spy shots. She posed for them and they are out there for anyone to see.

Bristol Palin's pregnancy is a valid (if anecdotal) argument as to the legitimacy and effectiveness of abstinence-only education or the zealotry of birth control-hating, choice-hating fundies like her mother, but she herself is not "fair game" here. Franky, I feel so unbelievably sad for her, because of all this. When the first rumors about her pregnancy (the crazy ones that said she was Trig's mother) came out, I wanted to stay as far away as possible from anything resembling them.

Then Sarah Palin issued a press release, and trotted her daughter out onto the national stage both literally and figuratively. To use a bit of Yiddish, it is a total shunda.
